Hi,

I'm looking for a disk speed test tool that is easy to use and gives proper readings.
I want to test several different type of disks and file systems to see what the effects are on read (and if possible write) performance.

So far I only found an old school command line tool "Diskspeed" on OS4Depot where you have to give a gazillion prams.

Is there anything friendlier or better available for OS4?

Something like Sysinfo diskspeed would be great to have.

if you have Sysmon (included in ztools on AmiSphere) under configuration tab there is benchmark tool, which said is based on sortbench.

there is DevInfosNG : when you click on drives on your HD, it opens 2 other tabs, one being Speedtest

Do you have both Sysmon and the DevInfosNG?

Can you run a test with both to see if there are big differences in the result numbers?
I'm just curious.

I could but Sysmon benchmark only stresses the CPU with sortbench so it is probably useless for disk speed...

It seems that Sysmon is a bit odd. What is Mo ?

DevInfosNG looks more promising and quite comprehensive.
Nice scores, I wonder if it is 30000 Mega Bytes per second or just 30 Mega Bytes per second ? Or is it Mega Bit per second?

Could it be that Cache is in play here?
Because with 1 kilobyte buffer it is 7111 KB per second (To me this looks Kilo Byte).
But when you look at the next row it jumped to 25.000 (I believe twentyfive-thousand) Mega Bytes per second. Don't know if the dot is intented as a comma? In Europe it is the thousand separator.

I agree about DiskSpeed. I gave up on figuring it out. After trying I'm sure the template is broken as I gave it only things that were needed from what I could see but it kept complaining. Just too hard to use. Unfortunately, this is another of those OS4 ports, where it lost the GUI and went backwards for some reason.

It's not native but I used DiskMonTools to do testing for years. Might be 68K but the underlying drivers are native and results looked realistic. I found it effective.
