Hello

I tried to run Fuse Spectrum emulator and it cannot or musn't load it says "failed to load libxml2.so.9·

Why this happens? What can I do to recover and play Spectrum games on my AmigaOne X5000? I love this machine in good or great state.

i must remember that I downloaded Fuse on the webpage OS4depot.net.Fuse was downloaded about 2 days ago.Nice emulator for my Amiga system and yours too.

Great stuff yeah

Bye

It runs just fine here on my X5000. Did you check the SObjs dir on your system partition to make the file or a link to it is there?

No

Can you or anybody help me?

I think we can manfe to succeed.

Where can I download the file needed to run and play with fuse?

I only want to mplat Spy Hunter that is the best Spectrum game without doubt,Out Runn second preferred game or Renegade and Three weeks in Paradise to only name few.

Amiga and Spectrum emulators rule.

Dreaded .so objects, I can feel your pain. There are two version of Fuse on OS4 depot (one from 2012, the another from 2018), which one of these you use?

As of libxml2, there is one on os4depot: libxml2 containing libxml2.so.11 (you can rename it at your own risk; correct way is probably to make a softlink, but whatever)

Shared objects are stored at the SYS:SObjs drawer.

Thank you but I I already have this library downloaded yesterday and I feel we can do better.

Fuse is vital and very important emulator for me,cause I don't have any Spectrum at home or at hand early.

What can we do now?

Cheers

So what is the problem now? It still doesn't run even with .so installed?

Note, if nothing other helps, you can still use the good old ASpEmu. For me, both Fuse and AspEmu work OK (however, I tested only few games and played only Defender of the crown up to the end).

ASp is better, generally, although it doesn't have as many features as FUSE.

Maybe we need a new port which is statically linked?

Yeah I feel well with the ASP Spectrum emul I can progress forward and well, but I think and see why Fuse doesnt run.As said it needs the already commented SObj.And with ASP I haven't have trouble in the past, only now that it says that it cannot load Audio Channels or instead it says that Cannot fit or set Screenmode (similar to these two sentences)

Bye and have all of you a good night.

Sorry I took my medicaton but now as it feels better I don't get the picture well still.

I saw the Amiga screen letters blurried but now I feel better than this issue.

Thank you

I saw that libxml atchive. The problem with that is it doesn't really help. That is a programmers archive. It doesn't help the average user who doesn't have the SDK installed nor should they need an SDK installed to run software.

I wanted something that needed SDL2. SDL2 what? What does that mean? I went all over OS4Depot looking for this alleged SDL2 and it isn't clear which one it wants. If it wants something specific the exact location of what it needs should be given in the readme. I installed something but I don't think it worked so I just gave up or something.

I think EVERYTHING should be statically linked! Lol.

The fact is OS4 is not Unix/Linux or MacOSX. We don't have fancy package managers or even package creators. If the programmer is releasing software for users then it all needs to be included. Otherwise it's just crap getting it too work. SOLIBS may be useful for programmers but they can be the worst thing for users. I almost wrecked my system trying to get one program to work after hacking my SOLIBS to bits.

This is why with the one port I've ever done, that Stargus thing, I made sure it worked out of the box. Gamers want to play a game. They don't want to look for randomly vague files they have no idea about which don't install themselves trying to get stuff to work. Even in the old days it was annoying. If you got an error you got it one error at a time. Instead of stacking all errors at once so you knew what was missing. I know it's done sequentially and breaks on one error but it's still frustrating to find you are missing a resource, find it online, drag it over to your Amiga, install it, only to find there are more with it. And the readme forgot to mention that.

The problem comes on ASP emu when I try to load in fullscreen,it doesn't allow me or I don't have defined a 320x240 screen or similar.Bear in mind that I maybe have to setup on Picasso 96 prefs on Workbench, but is impossible on a Radeon 5450 card.

I think sooner or later I will have to encounter with the mad cars of Spy Hunter or a seasonal soccer match on Matchday 2.And I think there are a lot of beautiful of playing on the still mythical behavior of the World Of Spectrum.

Great 80s and childhood reminder, just before I buyed my Amiga 500

Any new or ample confronts-ideas?

You can select any screen mode you like (and have defined) in:

Menu--Settings--Screen--Select screen mode...

(do not forget to save prefs then, so you do not have to select the screen mode again)

Just tried 640x480 32 bit and it works OK with Robin of the wood.

Yeah, these libraries are hard to install for an inexperenced user. However, you should give sdl2 another try, it will allow you to use eg. DOSBox from kas1e (dynamic CPU core, 3x faster CPU than other versions). Master of Orion 2 or Albion (this one in somewhat lower resolution) are well playable on Pegasos 2 G4 1266 MHz.
