You really think that there will be that many new OS4.1 users if it’s available on any PC?l when AROS and emulation have been around for years and years??

When OS4 came out, SIXTEEN years ago, AROS was still lacking in oh so many departments.
68k Emulation was nowhere near today's sophistication and completeness.

It was a very different time, and there might have been some reason to run OS4.

Fast forward to 2022:

WHY should anyone pay princely sums for quirky, underpowered hardware,
built on dead end architectures, to run a single spaghetti-code proprietary OS,
backed by thieves and lawyering scum?

WHY, when we have an OS that runs on cheap and powerful hardware,
looks and feels like Amiga,
transparently emulates 68k,
has a functional kickstart replacement,
and is free, open sourced?

Trevor knows.

That's why he, like the grinning Amiga Trump he is, makes comments like that.
To rally "his people".

AOS4, the aptly named CAGA, are the MAGA of the Amigaworld,
and Hyperion is their Political Action Committee,
their device to ka-ching ka-chinnnggg collect money from the blind, dreamy eyed, peanut-brained believers.

Next thing, Trevor will be calling Aros users "AINOs".

@MEGA_RJ_MICAL: and AROS runs on PowerPC and ARM too.

Well, "run": it was ported but never finished. But, like for the 68k, those ports could be completed (at the least the ARM one).

@All

In a recent future I imagine someone creating a crap copy of AmigaOS. Perhaps by some AtariST tossers just for fun. They find some cheap hardware to run it on, like an RPi rip off, with a LEG CPU. Purposely chosen for lack of MIDI ports just to rub it in again. They will call it the AnusOne. And it will run ANOS.

There's one already,
it's called MorphOS.

@MEGA_RJ_MICAL

The only people that say MorphOS is a crappy AmigaOS are those not using the recent versions of it. I think its fantastic.

@MEGA_RJ_MICAL

(WHO!)?
The quote you began with makes no reference to AROS, your chosen topic.
Your later comments are assuming that AROS is the only reasonable choice.

There are multiple Amiga and Amiga-Like OS's. Each has strengths and weaknesses,
each appeals to a different demographic.

If you prefer one over the others, good for you!
If you believe you can further your own choice by throwing shit at the others, then you
are just part of the problem.

Incorrect.

Objectively, when one removes all prejudice, AROS is the only reasonable choice.

The operative word here is "reasonable", as in we apply reason, using our reasoning faculties, which means terms such as "appeal" and "preference" have nothing to contribute.

AROS should've been the choice back in 2009, and it is ever more so today.

AROS, by the virtue of being open source and multi-platform, is a unifying post-Amiga OS. Anyone who continues to pull into a separate camp, as is evident by the quote that spurred this thread, is by definition part of the problem (thwarting AROS), and not part of the solution.

The reason Trev isn't interested in switching to AROS, is because any development efforts he'd fund could benefit users running AROS on non A-Eon hardware.

@lylehaze

I am going to simplify for you,
friend lylehaze (which you might consider changing to lylehazy ).

Some ever-grinning fiend keeps talking the "masses" into the the idea that "PC BAD, PC EVIL".
When he says "PC" he means X86, he means anything-but-custom hardware.
Anything but whatever HE wants to peddle.

If it wasn't for this goebbelsian propaganda,
a time would have come - years ago already - when the amiga nimrods would have realized they didn't need to wait years for an exotic board to be designed and produced,
crossing fingers that some obscure cpu remains available,
and finally pay a ton for some 500-mhz piece of crap.

They just had to chose "that other os" that is THE reasonable choice for a simple reason:
it's the one that runs on cheap hardware.
On available hardware.
And still gives you all that an Amiga should be.

Have I brought the dots close enough so that you can connect them now,
hazy friend?

BESTEST OF REGARDS,
MEGA "RJ" MICAL

ONCE AGAIN, FRIEND AGAMI, WE WROTE THE SAME MESSAGE AT THE SAME TIME.

They'll start thinking we are the same person,
or rather - that we both are Franko.
