This is going to be delightful to watch unraveling.
The volatility of RAM disks, here an exquisite metaphor of newlight's own volatility.

Let's witness another feverish night go by,
under the silent skies of the iberian peninsula,

quivering fingers tapping on an Amiga keyboard,
seeking answers that will never come,
that new light never to be found.

@newlight

There is a line in the Sys:S/Startup-sequence pointing to the RAM disk icon:

Makelink RAM:Disk.info ENVARC:Sys/def_RAM.info SOFT

First, check if the line is still there. If not, add it.

Second, check the icon (def_ram) in the SYS:Prefs/Env-Archive/Sys.

Third, if the def icon is not the correct one, copy the original icon from your install CD/media.

Fourth, if nothing helps, I can send you that def icon via e-mail.

Hope that helps.

@pavlor

Yeah I have the def_RAM.info that leads into Workbench and is not selectable,it was deleted on an attempt to progress to a new icon.

Yes send me via e-mail and I could have copied to my OS4.1 def partiton and try if it works.

Send me to: XXX XXX XXX
And thank you my mate,because if you can help me I will surely put my WB on right shape again.

Cheers
