I created a simple prompt to get Microsoft's Bing Image Creator to 'generate' a pencil sketch of a Commodore Amiga 1200 computer.

The 4 results were horrific!

This must be the greatest insult Microsoft could have bestowed on our beloved computer. Someone needs to talk to Open AI.

Prompt: A pencil sketch of a Commodore Amiga 1200 computer outer casing with full keyboard, grey scale, light and dark shadow, from a 45-degree angle looking down, 1 light source off center, boca depth of field

The fourth image I shall not post. It is that bad!

My God!

Prompt: A photo realistic picture of a Commodore Amiga 1200 computer's outer casing with full keyboard, color, light and dark shadow, perspective corrected, from a 45-degree angle looking down, 1 light source off center, boca depth of field

I'm done!

If anyone can do any better, it would be interesting if any generative AI system can actually render a Commodore computer properly.

What happens if you don't use the word commodore?

@Rob

Hi Rob, a good suggestion.

I did try this eventually. Kept the prompt clean and simple, and it came out similarly. A strange cyber-punkish abomination of an Amiga rendition.

I guess this puts to bed the idea that AI does not generate the image from scratch. It definately does.

I did get it to produce a rendition of the Amiga Boing Ball... but it is not correct.

https://www.bing.com/images/create/a-pencil-sketch-of-a-commodore-amiga-red-and-white/64453bfa647847afb379a463c0682b21?id=otD1JeFM1RElw7kGXLmTOg%3d%3d&view=detailv2&idpp=genimg&PC=EMMX01

I had to wrangle the AI hard, with multple prompt revisions before I got this result. The previous attempts included distorted balls and lines.

The 'Amiga Juggler' was hideous, & thought best not put ppl through the pain. It will forever scar any pleasurable memory you may have had of the digital ol'timer.

Have a great rest of your weekend Rob!

If you ever tried to do a search using Bing, you could have expected this outcome

@Skateman

Yes, very true Skateman.

But I must say this... i actually tried another 2 generative AI image creation web services, and the results from those were depressingly similar. The AI is experiencing difficulty in generating an Amiga computer image.

I asked it to generate a Playstation 3! Horrific! The AI melded parts of the controller into what it thought a PS3 ought to look like.

I don't want to imagine how a Commodore PET may come out.

It scary though where we are at with this technology today, give it a few more years and where all doomed :)

This is what Ai did when I asked it to extend this famous Amiga image

Dont know why it think a deck chair would be there, kinda want to keep going with it, its crazy this stuff.

Also i thought this was pretty impressive, concept art for Another World made by Ai
https://twitter.com/WhatKateDoes/status/1639606449075625987

Kinda want to make another 2d platform like that one day. Least I know where to go to get idea from :)

@amigang

It"s frightening amigang, but curiously interesting when one considers the endless possibilities.

Interesting, & a rather strange result, for your abstract experiment. Looking around the exstended parts added to by the AI, one can see the attempt that has resulted in some strange visual phenomena. The fish & clouds are rather wrong & distorted, whilst the deck chair looks out of place there all on its own. AI still struggling if one looks closely, even with a reference source to go with.

What AI tool did you use amigang? Would you agree this is another Amiga AI generqtive art damp squid?

You are right though, the future commeth, & there ain't anyway to stop it or slow it down. At this pace, we could all be 'doomed' to some degree. It is incredible what us happening though.

Thank you for sharing the tweet with the 'Another World' creations, phenomenal amigang.

Lol Hypex... yes, looks hideous though...

Have you tried experimenting yourself with AI generative art?

It can be fun, but sometimes depressing, when what you want comes out far from what you may have been expecting...

I haven't. I think of things I could ask it like how a certain idea could be programmed and a template to work off. Or other things how one would bring the Amiga into the 21st century. Asking it to create a meme based on my ideas would help. Perhaps it could help compile imaginary for me instead of me wasting an hour on an image search for what's in my head.

You can't expect the AI to produce good results in a field it hasn't been extensively trained on. I bet tech products weren't the main focus from start with. You may concentrate on Stable Diffusion instead, and try training the AI yourself on Commodore or Amiga related topics, then doing a merge with an existing model.

You will need a lot of patience and a pricey video card, though.

@QuBe

it Dall -E Outpainting, you can upload a picture and then tell it to add things
https://labs.openai.com/editor

Also did the Fanatasy Amiga image
https://twitter.com/amigang/status/1650534343008198657

What scary is how fast its moving, this video was made all with Ai
https://twitter.com/kg_podcast/status/1653154405477171200

I can see a future where I will be able to say "Hay Google make me a new Star Trek series staring William Shatner was captain in Next Generation" and it will go away and make it!

Yes indeed. You can definitely give it a go as you refine your prompting.

I have joined Discord & now on the #midjourney server to check out the incredible art being generated there. So far the hest generative AI engine I think. You cannot use it unless one pays a monthly subscription fee... gah!

You can try Bing Image Creator to play. One word prompts are funny.

Incredible amigang... things are moving very quickly indeed!

Have used DALL-E, but moved to BIC as it's free. Stable Diffusion is another free service, but if you want best in class... #Midjourney or Adobe Firefly :)

Great futuristic Amiga try. Motivating me to try harder & experiment more...

The AI text to video will be mindblowing when the tech is refined.

It will improve quicker than ppl can imagine...

If you're training something useful for stable diffusion, please don't forget to upload them on civitai.com
