And oh, heh… the Amiga developer team registration/login is still not available on https, only http. How many years ago it is since I first reported and commented on this being unacceptable in terms of security and for user privacy, but also an economic risk for AmigaKit in the light of GDPR? Why is handling simple public certificates apparently such a tricky job, and how can one trust AmiStore, which registration… oh… https://secure.a-eon.biz/register_user.php - another faulty certificate.
This is seriously symptomatic for so many of these amigakit/aeon web services, it seems like pure luck when you get it right.
(Sigh)
Edit: oh, AmiSphere, not AmiStore… Last edited by kolla on 24-Aug-2023 at 02:19 AM.

Only our V54 commands, system tools, BOOPSI Gadgets, Prefs and AK-Datatypes have been ported to V46.

What's the 68K OS kernel? Userland software wouldn't work without supervisor-level software. Besides the official AmigOS 3.1/3.X and Hyperion's AmigaOS 3.1.4/3.2.x, I'm aware of AROS 68K-based ApolloOS and AROS Vision "Sunrise".Last edited by Hammer on 25-Aug-2023 at 04:11 AM. AmigaOS has no “kernel”, closest you get is exec.library, for which there’s several alternatives. _________________ B5D6A1D019D5D45BCC56F4782AC220D8B3E2A6CC |

Not sure where you go that link as it is outdated, please let me know and I will get the link fixed. The correct link is:
https://www.amisphere.com/register_user.php
@Hammer
We are using a blended system: AROS 68K ROM/Kernel with our System V46 running on top. PPaint and Octamed run well.

Compared to the size of a Linux monolithic kernel, it probably seems like the Amiga microkernel does not exist but I believe it exists as a small portion of the exec.library. What were the ROM Kernel Reference Manuals for if there was no kernel?

So it will be an AOS3.x compatible system out of the box (if someone has a spare keyboard and monitor).
Sounds acceptable. |

That is one of the project objectives. HDMI TV or monitor would be required.

And what would this offer Amigans that the V4 Standalone doesn't? What about the Mister or UnAmiga? What exactly is the target market? PiStorm customers who can't source an A500/A1200? _________________ "Art challenges technology. Technology inspires the art." John Lasseter, Co-Founder of Pixar Animation Studios |

Maybe customers that can’t afford the other options are the target audience? Last edited by DiscreetFX on 26-Aug-2023 at 05:13 PM.

That link is from another of you numerous sites… http://www.amistore.net/
AmiStore, AmiSphere, AmiThis, AmiThat… inflation, confusion…
If it’s outdated and irrelevant - take it down.

Awesome, another “fork” to worry about, ThoR will be thrilled :)
I presume this is old OctaMED v4? Where does the Amiga serial port (used for debug output as well as MIDI for OctaMED) end up? A device node on host Linux system? A virtual com port on host windows system? _________________ B5D6A1D019D5D45BCC56F4782AC220D8B3E2A6CC |

Maybe you didn’t get my question - every Amiga has a serial port, it is (among other things) used by the OS for debug output, romwack etc. My question is, when data is sent to the serial port on the emulated Amiga, where does this data end up? OctaMED (and lots of other music software) supports MIDI ports on the serial port, and if there is an interface between the emulated Amiga’s serial port and the host OS, it could indeed be possible to also connect to external MIDI. CAMD isn’t so relevant here, I doubt the included OctaMED supports camd, but maybe. If so, camd also needs to talk to “the outside” somehow, typically via serial port, so…
All these questions I have are merely to slowly pull out information about what the host operating system is, and what emulator is used, since this apparently is “secret”. _________________ B5D6A1D019D5D45BCC56F4782AC220D8B3E2A6CC |

I know you where asking amigakit but looking to your questions and your experience you could answer them yourself:
Q: And what would this offer Amigans that the V4 Standalone doesn't? A: Lower prices, and nice extras like USB storage.
Q: What about the Mister or UnAmiga? A: They are not cheap and don't have USB, Ethernet or WiFi.
Q: What exactly is the target market? A: Amiga Retro Users
Q: PiStorm customers who can't source an A500/A1200? A: Customers who want a stable Retro Amiga without tinkering.
@AmigaKit you can use my answers if you want. |

MiSTer has all of those, you probably think of MiST. (UnAmiga, Sidi and several others are essentially MiST clones)

Apollo V4+ Standalone Basic Bundle has a 679 € price tag (including VAT) which is $737.56 USD or $1,140 AUD (Australian Dollar) or $1,001 CAD (Canadian Dollar) or $1,239 NZD (New Zealand Dollar).
The Euro is pretty strong compared to lower dollar-based currencies.
For PiStorm and TF536 68000 socket-based accelerators, customers can purchase Minimig VER 1.97itx for $350 CAD. Minimig VER 1.97itx clones C= Amiga 500's 68000 socket-based CPU accelerator support. Last edited by Hammer on 30-Aug-2023 at 05:03 AM.

Note that I wrote “kernel” in quotes…
You wrote…

To me, your list of “kernel” options isn’t about the 13kB micro kernel of exec.library, but rather the entire operating system._________________ B5D6A1D019D5D45BCC56F4782AC220D8B3E2A6CC |
