what is, in your opinion, the best hardware and the best software for Amiga in this 2023?
Hardware it will be better classic 68k hardware so no FPGA and no Raspberry, but most people using these hardware so are ok.
Software: only Applications, Operating System and Games that run natively or in emulation.

Best Amiga HW and SW in 2023?

Easy.
Best HW: PiStorm32 Lite
Best SW: Emu68

Edit: In light of topic change I have removed non-Amiga items from my post

@Seiya

I must repeat what @agami said here.

Without any competition: pistorm32 and emu68

Honestly, has there been anything else notable released in 2023, or in the last 5 years for that matter?

emu68 for me is not software, it is 68040 emulator for pistorm32. Software intended like applications or games

as on EAB forum there is a thread like this, if someone answer there not post also here :)

Which is... a software.

In your case the best software should be DeepL.

When you ask about software, I think about coding. So I ask myself, which developer or team wrote the best code?

And when you ask about the “best”. I ask myself which has made the biggest impact, which has moved the proverbial needle forward?

If you wanted people’s opinions about applications and games, then you should’ve asked about applications and games. Words have meaning.

Then it bears considering categories like “Best New App/Game” and “Best Updated App/Game”.

App wise, MorphOS is where it’s happening (if you count MorphOS as part of the Amiga). Wayfarer, Iris, RNO range.
Game wise, games released for Apollo V2/V4 is where it’s happening.

@Seiya

Well your make your point across on what you find software to be, but why should it conditionate on what others think on what software means to them? You're in a public forum after all... I find odd the amount of conditioning you're trying to do regarding the subject, there's not even a poll nor a pancake as an option. I am really puzzled. You don't even wonder why people choose emu68 as their option?

@Seiya

I'm waiting for an enhanced Heretic II port. That would be my choice for best software 2023 (or 2024 ).

@pixie

Pistorm32 and emu 68k are the samething. Pistorm is not Amiga hardware and emu68 is the driver to run Pistorm inside an Amiga.
It is like to use WinUAE to run Amiga OS inside PC with Windows.

Emu68 not run without Pistorm32 and Pistorm32 not works without emu68. If emu68 working on every Amiga hardware (real or emulated) yes it is software.

Simply false: Emu68 CAN run on PiStorm, but it's NOT limited to PiStorm.
Quote:
Pistorm is not Amiga hardware

False again: it is Amiga hardware. Exactly like any other board which is plugged on the CPU socket.
Quote:
and emu68 is the driver

Emu68 is NOT a driver.

A driver is a software to make the o.s. communicate with advanced audio (AHI), other video cards (RTG), mass devices (ATA, SCSI, whatever), 3D (Warp3d, Warp3d, ...).

Emu68 is an hypervisor which has the main purpose (but NOT only this) to implement a JIT 68k-to-ARM64 and run the translated blocks of code.
Quote:
to run Pistorm inside an Amiga.

PiStorm does not "run" inside an Amiga...
Quote:
It is like to use WinUAE to run Amiga OS inside PC with Windows.

False again: it's absolutely NOT like WinUAE.

You clearly don't know what you're talking about.

You've already written the same non-sense on FaceBook, I've corrected you, but you're still reporting exactly the same thing like a PARROT.
Quote:
Emu68 not run without Pistorm32

False again. See above.
Quote:
and Pistorm32 not works without emu68.

False again. PiStorm can run with a different 68k emulator (e.g. Musashi) or anything else which can come.
Quote:
If emu68 working on every Amiga hardware (real or emulated) yes it is software.

The only right thing that you've written...

You said so many wrong things here, but @cdimauro already covered it well.

Here’s a suggestion: Why don’t YOU tell US what WE should be choosing as best HW and SW?

@cdmauro
@agami
i create this topic to have a list of the best 2023 hardware and software (Applications and Games) for Amiga.
if you want to participate, it's ok, otherwise what are you doing?

repeat:
emu68 i not consider like software. When you write "Pistorm32 lite" or "Pistorm" is enough.

Clearly Pistorm32 is Hardware & emu68 is Software, but I get why for a poll Seiya would want to have them as a combined entity (as hardware)! I don't think a lot of Amigans will be using one without the other, they're a pretty great combination after all. Pistorm32 & emu68 just don't fit well in a poll like this despite each being worthy of the two top spots!

@Seiya

Maybe if you acknowledge that emu68 is software & Pistorm32 hardware but for the sake of your poll as they are almost always used in combination class as Hardware as …. PiStorm32/Lite + emu68 (software). That's the best I can come up with anyway!

Then my candidates are…
* brcm-sdhc.device - awesome piece of Amiga software, using clever techniques to let you address entire sd cards or magic partitions as hard drives.

* EmuControl - awesome piece of Amiga software, lets you adjust parameters to optimize the performance of Emu68.

* ASyncWB - part of OS 3.2, keeps impressing the community with its bugs, from memory leaks to fancy crashes, corrupting files and anything else you can imagine! Workbench is boring without it!
