Are most people here are Amiga fans?

Wouldn't it be nice if the Amiga community would work together and we all do our part to make Amiga great again?

There is enough todo that everyone can find a place where she/he can help.

I see people posting many thousands of posts here.
Many of those post are full hate and negative energy, aimed to put other people down.

Let us imagine this time would be used to do something productive for Amiga!

So much could be done!

Question: How could people be motivated to do something positive?

Look and tell me what you see here!

I see three of the original Amiga Developers.
You should all recognize their faces.

The three Amiga devs are setting together using a new made Amiga and they play a newly made Amiga game.
This new game was developed by motivated Amiga fans, the main coder of the game was just 15 years when he started working on it.

What do you think about this?

The international Amiga GODS have spoken… The 21 AEON Amiga forum elites squeal with delight… bow to the new Amiga regime or be banished to AmigaLove(dot)com. Amiga deep state SyOP is REAL! YOU WILL PURCHASE* NEW AMIGA-LIKE HARDWARE AND YOU WILL LIKE IT!

*No Thanks… I will live in 68k real Amiga machine land as long as I live! I’ve already been down that OS4/PPC, 68k emulation road once and it was dark and scary. I feel sympathy for anyone that missed the chance to build out a real 68k machine from all the cool 68k add-on hardware (never to be manufactured again) sold by AmigaKit and others before Matt sold his soul to Trevor.

Oh, and try asking a 68k technical question or for help (yea, yea, yea… RTFM!) on Amiga.org or AmigaWorld.net these days… you will be humiliated and shot down in flames by the 21 AEON forum elites.

I digress and crawl back into my Amiga 68k cave.

I have never seen Amiga Corporation or C= Amiga developers using, promoting or owning PPC AmigaNOne hardware in 2 decades of embarrassment. I believe low cost retro 68k Amiga hardware is the right direction but vultures to vampires doesn't get us far enough. The value of a FPGA CPU core is not even as good as an emulated 68k CPU core and the cult of the vampire dictator is no more willing to share power than the dictators of the vultures.

I just don’t see how I can be as creative with a system that primarily is a very restricted “black box” gaming console, as i am with just about all alternatives.

Are you taking V4 here? Simple steps, buy one and code up whatever you want. No restrictions and it’s an amazing SAGA! Makes AGA look boring. Don’t forget that Arnie and 68080 are onboard for the ride too!

Tell that to those "Amiga on PowerPC" infidels.
Things would be much nicer around here if they all moved back to 68k. Starting from the top.

Apollo V4SA is a lot more affordable than an A1222 and it also comes with a fast 68080 + FPU + SAGA + AMMX + Maggie 3D + RTG, and an open source ApolloOS based on AROS 68k.
But they would rather spend 2x - 3x on the last PowerPC machine (sans FPU) to support AmigaOS 4.

We don't want them banned from this site. We welcome them here so that they might hear the truth, and see the error of their ways.

@agami

I’d buy an A1200 with fresh 68k hardware in a red hot minute. I feel like most of the components are there from the various Amiga vendors, just not yet complete to build one.

Speaking of getting productive and assuming you're Gunnar, not really sure, are you gonna include a compatible MMU so we can run CodeProbe ? Even if the final executable is compiled with VBCC or GCC, using CodeProbe just for debugging is still the best...
Or is using C just for the infidels ? :)

[LATER EDIT: one doesn't actually need an MMU to run CodeProbe, updated question in my next post...]

@agami @matthey

some scumbags here should accept that there will be no switch from ppc
real 68k is nice but too slow, too expensive, too outdated
for pc we have windows
so there will be always something better than 68k but not pc

Simple obstacles - the price for one is 600-700 euros, and since I don't fancy breadboards and spaghetti all over the desk, another 600-700 euros for the ultimate expansion (really, this is what a V4SA should have been in the first place!) So around 1400 euros for hardware that is the most closed and restricted Amiga-like system ever? For that kind of money, I can upgrade all my current systems with a Pistorms. And probably new MiST on top of it.

I would also struggle with restrictions, no way to add extra I/O, no clockport, no expansion bus, just a few IO pins with very limited support, no video slot, no direct access to USB for Poseidon or ANAIIS, and certainly no way to run Linux or NetBSD despite a modern fully functional MMU. And unlike just about all other FPGA systems, no community with cores for other systems, instead one must resort to the one thing that FPGA solutions was supposed to be the better alternative for - software emulation.

Anyways, SAGA isn't finished, probably never will be finished.

The switch to ppc was temporary.

@ppcamiga1

Many of us NEVER switched! We are unlikely to switch to the architecture now that it's dead.

We really should have kept MooBunny running so that the "super armchair critics" would be able to spout their bile over there instead of here...

Oh, and chasing away the moderators wasn't the best idea either.

Switch off the electricity, and tell those kids to go play outside.

On a more serious note. The only way to never be criticised, is to do nothing of value. Try to do anything big, and you will have your detractors. You either thicken your skin and learn not to engage with haters, trolls, etc., or you're going to have a miserable time.

Don't be too quick to dismiss/ignore criticism, though, because they may have a valid point...

Ask not what Amiga can do for you!

Ask what you can do for your Amiga!
