@wegster

I'll have to let @Sundown answer for registered IBrowse 2.3.
Following example for Aweb owners:
(1)-Not- logged in
(2)View a "news" section post with 5 pages like the one on the "20th anniversary bonus pack".
(3)Click on page 3 to view page 3 of the posts on that "news" story
(4)Now you wish to reply to a person who has posted on page 3
(5)So, log in to AW
(6)Are you still on page 3? Did page 3 refresh as it would in the main posting
section above?
(7)I am "kicked" back to a page with the "news" summary and the three choices
for "Flat/threaded" "Oldest first/Newest first" and "Refresh"
(8)How do I reply to a person who has posted in the "news" section on a page
-other- than the first or last page? The first and last pages -can- be accessed
with "Oldest first/Newest first".

Best Wishes,
#6

@wegster

Example 2, again with Aweb:
(1)I begin by logging in to AW
(2)The "news" post titled "20th anniversary bonus pack" shows a total comment count,
-not- a list of accessible page numbers.
(3)So, I click on comments
(4)This takes me to page 1 of the comments relating to this "news" story.
The "news" story is at top and the first page of comments/posts follows.
(5)Assuming, once again, that I wish to reply to someone on page 3, I click on
page 3.
(6)The error message pops up indicating that the story does not exist.
(7)Again, the first and last pages -can- be accessed with "Oldest first/Newest first".
(8)I can not access the pages in between to make a "reply".

Edit(added):Identical behavior in both examples with IBrowse 2.3 (demo).

Best Wishes,
#6

@wegster

With IB, I have to log out to read page 2 or higher. If I log in when I'm reading page 2 or higher, I'm take'n back to the home page. If I want to reply to a post, I go to the end of the thread & post blind. This all seemed to start happening about 1 1/2 months ago.

Is this an IB problem or a web site problem because we should get the IB developers to check this out with v2.4.

@jkirk

It is -possible- you are seeing the following:
(1)While -not- logged in you click on a page (thread) to view
(2)That page graphically shows you -not- logged in and the page goes in your cache
(3)Now you use your "back" button once and log in. Once that operation is processed
the AW front page should show you that you are "logged in".
(4)Now you hit the "forward" button on your browser to return to the page you
first visited while logged out in step (1).
(5)It fetches the page in the cache that indicates graphically that you are
-not- logged in, when in reality you are.
(6)Try a page refresh at that point and the log status will be updated to show
that you are indeed logged in.

Not all browsers are performing an automatic refresh.

Best Wishes,

@number6

this is what happens.
the default page looks different from my logged in page.
blue vs green

i know i am logged in and have responded to a few posts.
then i either click on a link and the page goe green(logged out)
or i respond to a message and it says i do not have permission to reply to this group.
then i hit the back button
open a new browser, log in, then go back to the other browser and click submit then it actually posts.

i have had internet explorer and firefox do this.
do the cookies timeout?
i have accessed the pages from multiple systems will this affect the login?

@jkirk

Sorry, I can not comment on anything I have not tried myself.
I only use Amiga (much like Toaks).
My comment above does refer to Aweb, including the most recent beta.
I mentioned it merely so people wouldn't think this is specifically an AW issue.
You will have to network with other users of "Internet Explorer" and "Firefox"
to get an answer to your question. Perhaps you could reach a consensus and post
the results here for AW to read.

Best Wishes and thanks for the response,
#6

oh, never had this problem myself.

its totally diffrent!.

What happens here is that it fails to view the content of the page after a certain post number (no idea which.sorry) but it doesnt happen if i have free RTG mem.

I think your problem may be because of some limitation of the demo maybe?

cheers

@Toaks

Which demo? We have tested IBrowse 2.3 (demo), IBrowse 2.3 (registered), Aweb
(current release), Aweb (current beta).
Which browser do you use that does NOT show this?

Thanks for the contribution. Xoops can indeed be entertaining.
Heh! We'll leave this one to the Xoops experts, OK?

Best Wishes,

@jkirk

Yes multiple system will affect it:

to whit:

Log in on system A... do stuff
Log in on System B.. automatically logs you out of system A

And yes the cookie can time out.
(its to do with cookies and the like)

I did test this, and unfortunately couldnt replicate the problem (following your exact instructions) this is in Aweb and IBrowse (full registered).

@Mark

Thanks for trying this. I will contact the others who can replicate the problem
and we will see if we can trace it. I can not speak for the others, but I have
seen this from a cold start and stripped down workbench. Very few resources
being used.

Different subject.
Broadblues was absolutely correct about this one:
Clicking on "new topic" at upper right in Aweb does nothing.
Clicking on "new topic" at lower left functions perfectly.

He wrote up the specifics in another thread concerning "new topic".
Sorry, no link.

Yes and as mentioned in a previous post this has been fixed (I just re-tested and it definately works).
[edit]

it was due to Aweb adding some XML functionality that Ibrowse ignores ie Aweb recoginises the /> as being a close of a tag. Basically someone had put some bad HTML in there

@Mark

You are obviously not using the new beta Aweb then.
I will drop an email off to Broadblues. The function you described now DOES work
in the last -public- release. It does -not- work in the new beta.
Sorry for the confusion.

Edit:Repeated testing from cold start. Same result. Email sent.

at line 275 in the source generated for this thread. This corresponds to the
upper new thread button, the lower button (which only appears inthreads) is
correct.

The bug only affect AWeb 3.5.06 (internal beta) so you might think it working if you test with
and older AWeb.
