@EntilZha Any suggestion on where to set up such a list? Someone (sorry, I can't remember who) offered to set one up on their high speed connection here earlier |

Not sure about team only, in the spirit of free/open source sofwatre discussion should really be kept public, you never know, someone might have some important info or skills but can't find out how to get in touch or what has allready been done. On the other hand there might also be some confidential info that need to be kept private between the devs. |

Agreed... It's definitely necessary to keep up the interest. That's why I suggest a mailing list to discuss the further proceeding..._________________ Thomas, the kernel guy

I've set up a forum at AmigaDev.amigaworld.net.
Link: OpenOffice for AmigaOS
@Amon_re Please take it off the main page like the other project forums.

True, but in the initial fase it might be handy, anyway, it's just an option to enable or disable ;) _________________ Amon's digital home |

Don't know how much i could donate, it depends alot on the financial situation of the moment, but it's an high valuable app, if not for one personally, for the entire community.

good word/excel/powerpoint compatability. And what about the new Access equivelent. |
For getting things out faster, i think it would be better to start with the most needed application, Writer. For the spreadsheet side we already have alternatives (Ignition) better than for wordprocessing. Don't know how Hollywood compares to Presenter. I'd put on hold even the DB side, we have SBase wich is quite good and it's going to be ported over to OS4 and IIRC they stated that a "Lite" version will eventually exist. In such a situation i'd prefer paying to buy a well known Amiga native app and reward the effort of the few loyal commercial developers we still have.

Actually, once Writer compiles the rest (except db) should be trivial, _________________ Amon's digital home |

Odd that both of us came up with the samething eh, stereotypical guys? Beaten by 1:11 though, a bit odd isn't it, must be a sign Last edited by digitaldisaster on 06-Jan-2005 at 10:31 PM.

I voted option 2, although I have years of programming experience. It's just not in C and/or Amiga based, but I developed database applications. I do have an A-One, I might be able to grant access to it via VNC (the machine is currently pretty well shielded).
As for managing this project, there might be more than 1 manager needed. I can only guess at the size of this project atm, but the current amount of people willing to develop or help in other ways indicate a lot of managing and coordinating will be needed. Prolly more than one person can handle parttime.
Question: there's a forum up, and a mailing list seems on it's way. How about a dedicated IRC channel? |
