| heh, I guess the PPC 970 references is one the errors?
Still, a good, balanced, and lenghty review from an outsider of sorts . |

| What is it, XMas or something? People get t-shirts, a review on Ars...let alone a pretty impartial/_fair_ one.
I'm shocked. I just dunno what to say! It would be interesting to see if the writier would commit to doing another review in 6 months, or when 4.0 releases, whichever is first.
Ok...so here's a 'few weeks of fame,' should be interesting to see how much the site traffic goes up now... _________________ Are we not done with the same silly arguments and flames yet??!

| Wow - a mainstream review!
I thought that it was due to something I'd suggested in a recent thread, but the author of the article says he bought the machine back in November - I can't claim any credit
Although there are some factual discrepancies, I don't think that any of them are substantial to mislead people, or put them off.

| The enthusiasm in the discusion about the article is pleasing and the article's writer's guess about KMOS's plans for OS4 on mobile platforms because of it's strengths is probably very accurate. _________________

| (last paragraph of the article) Quote:
However, a curious thing happened as I began writing this article on my AmigaOne. I found I was switching less and less from the A1 back to the PC, and I was enjoying my typical PC using experience (browsing, writing and chatting on IRC) more than I typically did. Had I succumbed to a particularly virulent form of Amiga madness? Perhaps, but it is a madness that I recognize from days gone by and thought was gone forever: the sheer joy of computing and the fun of discovering a new platform. |

| I think the part about Escom is wrong, they were not only interested in the name, they really did something, like producing "new" Amigas 1200/4000T and also the Walker was in development.

| Whoa! Congratulations to Hyperion et al and Eyetech!
Great "first" review for the pre release OS4 and the µA1 from an independent reviewer.
This grand overview of the Amiga saga, even though I've lived it, was sooo helpful and I learned several things from it too. Like the explanation of Workbench and Intuition , not being a programmer, was always a fuzzy concept for me.
Great article, this is a keeper for me. It also gave a hint of some of the hoops Hyperion et al had to jump through to get the OS to this point, you have my profound admiration.
@ Toaks
Maybe you could point out here, in a gentle way, some of the discrepancies you found in the review? This thread is now referenced in the discussion following the review and might be helpful all the way around, it would help me too.. _________________

| A few minor historical errors (understandable) but an excellent review.
I hope KMOS/AInc. read it as it is written from the point of a new comer to the platform. _________________ Sam
