| Interesting, I wonder if it will take off, and wonder more... whether OS4 will run on it. Last edited by eMike on 13-Oct-2006 at 12:50 AM.

| Looking at the Evo website, it looks like the EVO is a Windows Media Centre PC..
http://envizionsinc.com/specifications.html
It's hard to see the benefit of this over an X-box 360.. however, the Evo appears to have been designed with the living room in mind - as opposed to a PC running Windows Media Centre edition that you stick in your living room. |

| I read more info on the site.. I think this is gonna flop.
BBC2 have a show called Dragons Den where people come with business ideas and pitch them to "Dragons" aka succesful business people. By Succesfful I mean those who are worth hundreds of million.
One of the dragons has launched more tech companies than you can mention, and another is huge in telecoms.
A man came along with his super living room media centre PC.. with content streaming plans. He told them he planned to remortgage his house to fund development. They told him not too - that his idea sucked, and he'll be bankrupt.. Why produce the hardware? |

The hardware is not made by Amiga Inc., so the design is what it is. The most importend things are that there is usb, ethernet, cd-drive and harddisk, whit that you can do alot. If it runs some of the OS5 tools it will be a good start to launch AmigaOS bit by bit to the masses.
And like Amiga Inc. said that there is a path from OS4 to OS5, you can already see what possibilities there are. Ofcourse it will all take/need its time.
I think that for us the Amiga-community the best way to follow is to launch OS4 on PPC-hardware and to continue to develop for the future. Ofcourse this is what i think of it and others will have other ideas for the future of OS4.
Edit: oops read the design thing wrong, you mean the Amiga Inc. site, ok, they should change the design a bit. Last edited by Dirk-B on 13-Oct-2006 at 06:15 AM.

| it's seems that this is the Amiga Inc Rebirth. Looking forward for the Amiwest event. Hope to see more and more positive news from Amiga Inc. Hopefully a good news related to OS4, then OS5.... _________________ retired

| lets hope and pray for a nice new website. I remember that time ago there was also organized sth like a design contest by the comunity and there were some pritty good results.
Anyway, regarding this new partnership, for the moment the only good thing I see in all this co-branding ecc activities is, that the boing ball and amiga name is displayed and has visibility. I believe this helps when serious stuff is coming out.
In the meantime I'm still curious about this:
- ICTV, Amiga Combine to Enable “Interactive Triple Play”
and this:
Amiga, Inc. Announces Partnership With Riverdeep® to Release Mobile Edmark® Titles
any news about this stuff? |

Yes, PCs, regardless of form factor, usually have those very useful components. I hear they even have CPUs these days! :)

I propose you forget about "OS5" or "OS5 tools", at least until slightly solid plans about what it's actually supposed to be have been detailed. And don't hold your breath for those plans.
This over-powered (I'm not sure it's a clever idea to put an Athlon 64 3200+ and a Radeon X1600 Pro in a VCR-sized case and place it in e.g. your book-shelf) HTPC in an awkward case runs WinXP Media Center like most HTPCs, BTW.

Running AmigaOS on x86_64 PCs would be wonderful, yes. Hosted on WinXP less so. But I don't see the direct connection between yet another announcement regarding "AmigaAnywhere" on Windows, and AmigaOS. _________________ Oh, bother.

| so basically its a Windows PC in a weird looking case. The games they are selling work under Windows XP.. not really a Amiga. But I was having a discussion w/another fanatic and he was saying that since Amiga holds the "Amiga" logo, slap it on this and call it a Amiga. Crappy site design also.. my personal site looks much better. |

| Yawn! ...The only thing remotely positive thing about this "news" item is that this may give AInc. an additional source of licensing revenue to do other more interesting and important work, or at the very least make them a little less irrelevant to and less of a cavernous money pit of a black hole for the VCs behind AInc. _________________ When swimming with sharks, make sure to bring lots of band-aids...

| when i see this it is a painly reminder that amiga inc is removing them self more and more, from their users, the classic amiga and aos4.0 they love and know and use... why will i be interessted in this crap or anyone else, there are 100.000 solutions out there allready that are better and cheaper than this, they runs winxp, linux or macos.... this is just like their crap games, totally useless and none intressting.. main focus should now be aos4.0 and hw to run it on... but nooooooo its all about crap games, crap x86 boxes and the no excisting aos5.0 that no one have seen or heard about until a few weeks ago... ainc better get their act together or it is game over period! _________________ I was a ZX Spectrum owner....

I would guess the truth of the matter is that these 'crap' games are generating more revenue than OS4, else they wouldn't be bothering with their 'crap' PDA games. |

Well, they made it impossible to generate revenue with OS4 (except for Eyetech), so that's not necessarily an achievement... ;) _________________ Oh, bother.
