Yea, me too, if it ran OS4!
/me can't stop wondering if this is all connected: Why would Hyperion announce OS4.1 without any hardware? Why would ACube run such a promotion campaign now, right after Hyperion announced OS4.1..?
I think it's connected, and I like it _________________ - Don't get fooled by my avatar, I'm not like that (anymore, mostly... maybe only sometimes) > Amiga Classic and OS4 developer for OnyxSoft.

| I am really tempted to add that sum to my credit card. If I could run OS4.x on it, I wouldn't have to think... well, we all think the same.
Grrrr!

You'd really do that even though your Pegasos runs faster?*

| What's not mentioned here, is that it's not only the price drop, but the inclusion of AROS on shipping. So it may not run Amiga OS4, but it runs a Amiga OS like type, and right out from the box...

If I had any kind of interest in AROS at all, i'd buy a PC to run it. Hence, i don't want the SAM unless it runs OS4. _________________ Playstation Network ID: xeron6

Well, well, well... it can!
Even though AInc can try to dictate what hardware gets to be called an "Amiga", they can't prevent people from buying SAMs and running OS4 on it if the SAM isn't sold as an "Amiga".
Any 3rd party coder could write and release patches/drivers to load/run OS4 on the SAM (except Hyperion maybe, due to the court case).
As long as the user isn't using a pirated copy of the OS, it doesn't make any difference what hardware runs it.
A better alternative would be for ACube to buy Eyetech LLC (the legal entity, not the stock), that way they'd get the rights granted by the A1 partners agreement and thus could legally sell the SAM as an AmigaOne.

| Which also wouldnt work for a variety of reasons
1) Eyetech is a ltd (not LLC) (minor niggle), they have no stock to buy, and it presumes that Eyetech wish to be bought
2) One of the reasons Eyetech quit was due to the Micro A1, and AInc's objections over it (resulting in various threats by AInc as I understand it). The main objection being that Eyetech didnt have permission to release another board under the A1 name.

Release OS 4.x for it now and a bunch of us will buy it! Otherwise deep discount or no why waste the money? Last edited by fairlanefastback on 25-Jul-2008 at 01:13 PM.

| Nice for those that haven't got a Sam yet, but where can we current Sam owners get a hold of the Debian Linux netinstall CD? Last edited by Valiant on 25-Jul-2008 at 02:43 PM.
