Internet News   Internet News : Italian singer Caparezza mentions Amiga in one of his recent songs
posted by Raffaele on 8-Sep-2008 18:17:29 (6405 reads)
Caparezza is a young and talented politically-involved Italian singer, with themes that focus on no global, and mainly no consumerism, no exploitation of people and other "save the earth" themes and he is very well known here. He often mentions modern "tropes" topics in his songs, like manga characters, famous people, movies or videogames titles...

His songs have hit, various times, the Italian Top Ten. The song is entitled "Abiura di me"

Below is a divergent youtube parody in which an Italian fanboy of Caparezza shows all the videogames contained in the song, playing in playback the soundtrack of "Abiura di me".

Listen to the song.
Below I made a rough translation of the lyrics...
Quote:
Abiura di me

RIT:

Io voglio passare ad un livello successivo,
voglio dare vita a ciò che scrivo.
Sono paranoioco ed ossessivo
fino all'abiura di me.
Vado ad un livello successivo
dove dare vita a ciò che scrivo.
Sono paranoico ed ossessivo
fino all'abiura di me.

Io faccio politica pure quando respiro,
mica scrivo musica giocando a Guitar Hero.
Ho 500 amighe, intesi?
Faccio canzoni mica catechesi!

Ho visto pazzi, rievocare vecchi fantasmi come Pac Man e Dan Akroid.

Abjuration of me

If you think I can change the world, you commit a big mistake
It is almost too much for me that I change my underpants
I just want to give you a big sharp wounding headache
Till you jump in the empty vacuum like a stuntman
Do you think I was telling/shooting balls?

(italian joke of words upon the word "balls" = lies)

You're good! I am the drake in Puzzle Bobble!
Like Crash (Crash Bandycoot) I'd like to crash boxes
but I risk to be beaten never the less as Double Dragon.

Could it be right due to this fact that there is always some blogger
who want to hit me down like in Frogger.
I will make holes in his tires and bye bye,
At least he could make me one Sega Megadrive

(Sega in italian means "saw", but it is also a bad world that indicates masturbation. Incidentally it exists also Sega Megadrive... )

You will see me saving no any Lemming
And not staying here making mould like Fleming.
Do not give me Grammy and no any awards suitable for a star
But play your penny and press "start"...

Refrain:

I want to pass to a next level, I want to give life to what I am writing
I am paranoid and obsessive till the abjuration of me
I am going to a next level where to give life to what I am writing
I am paranoid and obsessive till the abjuration of me

I make politics even if I just breathe
Sure I do not write music playing Guitar Hero
These topics makes me feel alive standing in the midst of a crowd of of too much zombies like in Resident Evil
What? I am not a star idol.
I close myself like an hedgehog more than Sonic
Till I loose my armor like in Ghost'n'Goblins
I get myself naked, I don't hide like Snake in Metal Gear Solid
I have 500 Amigas, do you understand?

(Here it cames our beloved machine and it is a joke of words with Commodore Amiga A500, and amigas/female friends because spanish and italian words Amiga/Amica sound almost the same)

I make songs not cathechism!
I take money with my fist risen like Super Mario, but I never spended it to hit myself lines like in Tetris.

(this is a joke upon the word "lines" of Tetris also intended as "lines of cocaine" the phrase sounds like "I did not spend it to sniff lines of cocaine like in Tetris")

I do not play Konami Olympics, If I take down the hands then it rests the shake...

(this phrase is to be intended "take down the hands" from the joystick)

Refrain:

I do not came from the street, I am too much nerd
I do not spouse a good cause, I have too much flirts/love affairs
I live amongst people who as with as in Red Alert spends its life on cubes like Q Bert.
I saw mad people summoning old ghosts like Pac Man and Dan Akroid (he intends Ghostbusters).
I saw tough people who resolve problems rising walls that then they make fall like I did in Arkanoid.
Not even Freud could explain me why in the night I dream to increase arms
Cause the earth seems me too much evil than in comparison Silent Hills seems Mouseton City.
I must write or I will became nuts, I am not interested that you will share my thoughts.
I do not walk on the clouds like Wonder Boy.
Do you believe I am the Messiah?
It is a problem of yours!

Enjoy Caparezza!

@ Yo

I find it all rather rude.

Hum... strange, but I am sure I wrote "divertent" and not "divergent"... And I meant that the youtube parody was funny...

You did... I changed it. 'Divertent' is not a word used in English. The word divergent (departing from convention, not like another in nature) comes closest, followed by, inadvertent (not duly attentive, careless)... but as I had no idea what you were trying to say, I took my best shot. A lot of SWAG* is involved when approving ads and news items from non-English native language speakers, see? (OK, actually, from NATIVE English speakers as well )

[Possibly, Quote:
Di·vert·ive
a.
[From Divert.]
Tending to divert; diverting; amusing; interesting.

Things of a pleasant and divertive nature.
but frankly, that word is odd and clumsy.

Amusing works better. Shall I change it?

*SWAG = Scientific Wild-Arse Guessing.

(Still waiting for a suppository explanation...)

Let's sort this "lost in translation" mess.

Raffaele put divertent which doesn't translate well in English.

In Italian divertente = funny

Ciao

About the world "divertent"... Sorry... I had a moment in which strangely I was sure it was used in english too to mean "funnY", "amusing"... How strange...

In the 'Matrix', there was the red pill and blue pill. Maybe this parody of some other state of alternate realities!!!
