 | The I/O can also be configured to communicate with extra XMOS chips that can run the processor's code in a highly parallel fashion, and for serious power applications you can just keep on adding processors. |

 | For really serious applications, you might have a Xorro board with an array of additional XMOS chips on, connected together to allow highly multi-threaded applications to run in parallel, in a similar fashion to the famous Transputer concept, the predecessor of the XMOS technology. Reference designs have been made with 256 cores, offering a theoretical processing power of over 100,000 MIPS. |
I know we have mentioned this on the forums for quite a while, but it has never really been mentioned by A-Eon before to my knowledge.
I have always said that the likeliest use of the Xorro would be for more XCore chips, and it would seem like the first A-Eon endorsement I've heard for such a thing.
I wonder if they already have an expansion board ready.

 | | @BigBentheAussieYou are correct.

The fact that possible uses of Xcores clusters it's not thoroughly discussed at the Xmos site (where only the most basic usage is covered) has led many here on AW to believe that there won't be other usage of Xmos tech aside from floppy controllers and serial port emulators, but people keep on doing all kind of stuff with the single core chip ex:

 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5eU8pHpy-c&feature=related

AND the reason that usage of clusters it's not discussed yet it's because that kind of usage it's in the very early stages (X-mos has uploaded a new video on You tube this month on the matter, further demonstrating how early the whole thing is).

If you add to that that in the future we might even see 2nd G Xcore processors (featuring an FPU) that might populate an eventual expansion board, you can realize that NOBODY here knows exactly what this technology will bring to the table (but they will tell you "everything" about it anyway

While i agree that the news came out a little bit late, your post was a lot funnier way to say it.

I think it deserves a news item, even being late, for the people who could miss it by not following the forum posts or the ones who just have a look at the news from time to time.

 | | For a moment I thought there were some further updates on the A-EON website, beyond what has already been discussed in the 15 page topic in the forums.

Why do OS4 fans need to be teased?

I 100% Agree with you I think it is a BRILLIANT move to include A CHIP that gets people into a small taste of the possibilities and then use Xorro for expansion options with FUTURE and of course current processors could spark some "uniqueness" for the Amiga OS platform as I am sure the code will be built in to Amiga OS 4 and beyond.

What is interesting since Acube, Hyperion, and A-EON are all pretty closely knit (at least I assume)
What are the chances of XMOS and Xorro making it into an Acube product for the "low-end" I hope the chances are very very high!
