| I've tried to install this one, and it goes better than Debian, (which is what we call damning with faint praise), but it's SOOOOOOOOO SLOOOOOOWWWW...
around 10 minutes to start the Graphical installer, after selecting skip, and 8 hours to install all the packages? No, that's not right, I'm not trying to install it on a CBM-64 from tape.
I gave up after the first hour. I tried on a Micro. _________________ Rage quited 29th May 2011

| After you can choose to boot YD as per tomazkid's advice, the YD Boot process can be shortened to just "run l" with a one-liner added to the UBoot file. But you'll have to ask someone else (than me) as I forget the syntax as to how I setup Debian for that!

And what OS should be installed first or isn't that important ?

I simply added the second drive for AOS4 to the slave position as that meant little changes to UBoot -- had been running Debian since dealer delivery of my XE two years (or so) back.
To me AOS4.0 is less troublesome to where it is so that is what made me choose Slave for its drive.
My initial AOS4 install on the slave drive. _________________ -vortexau, who's A1 XE-G4 remains at half-RAM ! A2000HD (from 1991) 060 64Mb PicassoII with OS3.5 . . . still working.

Seems you have used a "no-GX aware" kernel to me. _________________ ------------------------------- AmigaOS, the last hope...

| tomazkid mentioned: ->"I ran Debian and YDL on the A1 for a while, now only Debian is left. What you prefer, it just a matter of taste. If Debian works fine, stick with it,..
OK, thanks for the info. I'll probably stick with Debian since that was the really default system shipped with the A1 since day A1. |
