Carl is skilled and extremely kind person but to me Sassenrath is a person who wrote Exec, nothing more... THe industry has moved on and Carl's Exec written in 2010 would look different than that one written in 1985. _________________ Amiga Developer Amiga 500, Efika, Mac Mini and PowerBook

ok, but Carl is attending on at least 3 fronts. (1)as a normal show goer hoping to have a little enjoyment
(2)as a representative (with his wife) for REBOL
(3)to attend meetings with the OS4 team (this was posted above) I'm sure the possibility exists of him bringing his education up to speed, no?

I am sure Carl enjoys his stay there but I dont consider Rebol is interesting enough to meet Carl in person.
Carl meeting the OS4 team (Friedens) is more interesting but I dont except Carl is going to details... Tho, I am still eagerly waiting what Carl is going to comment in AmiWest. _________________ Amiga Developer Amiga 500, Efika, Mac Mini and PowerBook

To each his own. Obviously Andreas Wolf on Morphzone feels otherwise.

| REBOL has been an incredibly difficult tool to market, and it's particularly paradoxical that Amigans show so little interest in it, when many of its principles are closely related with the Amiga philosophy of being very fast and lightweight and how well it would work in concert with AmigaOS, had the relationship been developed more.
It solved problems 10 years ago that the software industry is still fighting and struggling with. Merging REBOL with AmigaOS (at least the AmigaOS kernel) would provide a solid basis for a unique and very powerful OS, rather than the current "me-too" strategy of adopting various popular languages and slapping them on top of the OS to augment parts of it.
But I recognize that this is very difficult to see, when one doesn't know REBOL very well.
I'm not sure what he decides to talk about, but it's going to be easy to fill the time slot, as REBOL is a very deep subject, if he's not being drowned in "What exactly is REBOL?" questions. |
