| Now if Hyperion offered a lower cost version of AmigaOS with lower performance hardware this could easily be sub £500 supplied by a dealer. I mention this with MorphOS pricing on efika version as an example.
A sub £500 machine would be quite attractive I would have thought. _________________ Amiga 1000, 3000D Toaster, Checkmate A1500 Plus http://www.checkmate1500plus.com/

the SAM440ep-flex is an excellent introductory system to next-generation amiga computing. it supports everything out of the box, has plenty of expansion through three PCI slots and four on-board SATA ports, and you don't need any extra hardware save a video card.
it's brilliant.
at this price, if you don't have an OS4 system and you've been on the fence, now's the time to hop off.

Yes, indeed! Come on in, folks, the water is fine. I derived a lot of enjoyment from my Sam440ep-Flex system purchased in 2010. _________________

Probably not, as the board has no Xena whatsoever. Maybe rather AmigaOne 250 or AmigaOne 500+... |
I be happy for them to call it the AmigaOne Cheapomatic. A new AmigaOne machine for under £600 would be excellent with almost any name _________________ My new blog

| About some months ago,I've bought a complete (used) sam440 based system with os4.1. After all these months, would i re-buy it? Yes. I like to use os4.1. I use it to surf the web, write mails, compose a little music, draw, write some programs with codebench, and in these last days, i even play with it (hurrican). But i use morphos and aros too and i enjoy both of them too. So, i'm an amigan. If i wouldn't be an amigan, would i buy it or any expensive hardware? I don't know. 500, 600 euros is not a little amount of money. What would i say to a potential customer? If you are not an amigan at all and you have never used an amiga computer, i don't know. Try aros first (it's free and you can install it on your home pc). If you like the amiga way, then you could think to go on to os4.1 or morphos, or simply stay on aros. Now, if you want to use amiga os instead, if you liked "the workbench style of things", yes, buy it and, believe me, you will like it. Last edited by rebraist on 12-Jul-2012 at 04:46 PM.
