Once again European people are screwed up since the complete system costs 1958 Euros for an American and 2500 Euros for an European !!! |
because the EU prices on their site include VAT whereas the US prices do not (since we don't have that in the states). which would explain the approximately 20% price difference. same for UK pricing: without VAT the price is £1,707.50; with VAT the price is £2049.

In the USA there is no value added tax but there is sales tax which is equivalent thing, however, CBS does not collect sales on imported goods. Even if they did it is very low typically only 5-8% and some states like Oregon dont have state wide sales tax.
When I was in the USA I went to Oregon to buy new iPad and digital camera avoiding insanely high 24% VAT here in Finland _________________ Amiga Developer Amiga 500, Efika, Mac Mini and PowerBook

But Oregon has a state income tax to make up for it. Here in Washington we have a state sales tax, but no state income tax. Who can say which is better? For me I prefer the state sales tax over a state income tax.

24% VAT, Ouch!
When I got my driver's license our various parents would take turns sending us teens across the border into Oregon to purchase items. Living in eastern Washington we crossed into eastern Oregon and did not have much of a problem with the authorities when we crossed back because of lesser population. Not so with the folks who lived in the more populated western part of Washington. The Washington authorities would cruise through the shopping centers around Portland, Oregon and copy down vehicle license plate numbers from Washington. I am not sure what they did with that information.
It got so bad with Washington citizens purchasing new vehicles in Oregon, using an Oregon address, and keeping them in Washington that the Washington state authorities starting cracking down. They now check all new vehicles purchased in Oregon and investigates where the owner lives and works. Current Washington law states that when you move here you must change your out of state vehicle license to a Washington vehicle license within 6 months I believe it is. New vehicles purchased in Oregon must be licensed to Washington state (not Oregon) or there is a fine on top of the required sales tax. The government does not miss any means of revenue.
I wonder if California and Idaho is as strict as Washington is on their citizens.
None of this matters to folks like you making purchases in Oregon.

actually amigakit has even better prices in USD than you get when you do the currency conversions. a complete X1000 system is only $2,646.62 (link) or you can get the motherboard alone for $2,117.47! these are the best prices seen yet for an X1000, so if folks are interested in getting one for themselves this christmas, now's the time while the current batch is in stock.
|
Interesting, that is a better price than I paid.
Come on the rest of you folks, bite the bullet and order if you can swing it.

You have to add memory, OS 4.1 and VAT = €548 (including Italian 21% VAT).

Still it's less than 2000€ (and more or less in the 500€ range someone was asking)Last edited by Nibunnoichi on 25-Nov-2013 at 07:58 AM.

ACube manufactures in Italy, Varisys manufactures in UK, i believe (there were some videos of their own factory IIRC). Both are subject to the otrageous EU VAT regulation.Last edited by Nibunnoichi on 25-Nov-2013 at 07:57 AM.

| Yes, but us Americans get screwed with outrageous health insurance rates and medical costs, which you receive for practically free, which is why you pay the VAT. _________________ Amiga!
