Personal Paint for the Amiga has recently been purchased by A-EON Technology and is being actively developed by Andy Broad for A-EON. In keeping with our commitment to providing new quality software for the AmigaONE X1000, AmigaOS 4.1 compatible and Classic Amiga computers, expect further upgrades and enhancements to PPaint during 2015.

Please add 32Bit-Screen for PPaint.

Even though the selections in the PPaint screen requester say CLUT8, they (at least the higher resolutions) are actually 32 bit. I think those PPaint high resolution CLUT8 modes are actually 8 bit screenmodes emulated on a 32 bit screen.

If my WorkBench is set to 32 bit 1280x1024 then the monitor doesn't resync when I switch to the 1280x1024 PPaint screen. If your PPaint resolution is different from the WorkBench resolution then there will be a resync. For example, if you have a 1024x768 32 bit WorkBench and 1280x1024 PPaint screen then you will get a resync when switching to the PPaint screen.

I wish Andy would add a screen title to the screen though. It currently listed as untitled.

Nice work folks.

Don't have the time to dabble in gfx just now but should that change I'll know where to go.

@eliyahu:

With the same Resolution like on Workbench for sure, its both FullHD (1920x1080)

That´s why i´m wondering about it, too

Maybe one reason is how the RadeonHD-Driver is handling that 8Bit-CLUT on a 32Bit-Screen?

This has been asked a few times already. No answer as of yet.

It is of course stopping some people from making AmiStore purchases (myself included) as why buy something that might be cheaper in a package deal?

@fingus

Screen switching works fine here on my Sam460 with same resolution (32-bit 1920x1080), no delay.

How much video memory does your Radeon HD card have?

Why?

When switching between my 32Bit screens and PPaint comes next, my TFT-Monitor (or RadonHD-Card?) needs 2-3 Seconds to switch to that 8Bit-Screen.

That is most disurbing.

Btw i bought previous Version for OS4.
Great work and enhancements so far!

Assuming you are using the AmigaOS4 version under AmigaOS 4 then this is already implemented.

You can choose to "promote" the image mode to a deep screen mode, by default this is set to 24 (colour depth screen bits depth) which implies an ARGB32 screen.

Make sure the line

PROMOTE = 24

is present in the program setting part of PPaint:PPaint_Prefs/Startup_1.set

And make sure that PPaint: is not pointing to any previous version of PPaint.

Check that the

There is no such thing as 8bit CLUT on a 32bit screen

The screen is 32bit the Image bitmap (offscreen) is up to 8 bit planar in main memory.

The only way I can see this going qwrong if you have more than one 1980x1080p 32 bit mode (ie one at 60Hz and one at 70Hz) Bestmode ID will choose the first one on the list that matches, which might not be the same as your workbench.

Its working now!

I have installed the new Version from the scratch.

It seems that something with the older Version was not correct installed or something else.

@broadblues

I still get everytime I start PPaint the ASL screenmode requester ¿:-/

1)Deleted (backed-up) Startup_1.set and Satartup_2.set
2)Started PPaint and asks/shows ASL screenmode requester, select 800x600
3)In PPaint choose SAVE SETTINGS and it creates Startup_1.set and Satartup_2.set files
4)Quit PPaint
5)Restart PPaint and again ASL screenmode requester.

Any idea what I'm dong wrong?

+1 !!!
Yes, this is very annoying. Even when choosing the same resolution, the change in bit depth causes a monitor resync, and modern monitors are *very* slow at resyncing. 2-3 secs.

And now another wierd problem with 7.3: Cannot load UIGraphics.pic, but it's right there:
Paint:Programs/PPaint/PPaint_Prefs/UIGraphics.pic
That's strange since I know it worked after I first installed it a couple of weeks ago.

Maybe I should just get 7.3a and make a fresh install...

Classic users without the AMIStore app store can instead buy it directly through the official website here: www.ppaint.com and download it from our secure website (see news item)

Alternatively because it is over 9MB they can buy it preinstalled on an Amiga formatted CF card here:

Everyone who purchases has an AMISphere username and password. These login details can be used to access the A-EON Secure Download website and also to access AMIStore.

Upgrade process for users without access to AMIStore is simply to login to the secure download website and redownload the new version.
