| Developing it further would be stupid. You may as well just make an OpenGL 1.x driver then, that would be more useful. _________________

| Thanks Hans, As you know I'm not a great one for benchmarks and prefer real life use cases but, I have to say, I'm impressed with the ~80% speed increased with the Warp3D Cow3D demo on my AmigaOne X1000 equipped with a passively cooled HD7750. It's not the fastest gfx card in the RadeonHD range but passive cooling is a bonus.
Cow3D benchmark
160-162 fps 171-175 fps (when 'b' pressed)

That was the sentiment over 10 years ago and we're still waiting for full OpenGL to this day. |

TO BE SILLY, here are OLD results from Apple MacMini OSX: Quake 3 - 1024x768 Maximum G4 1,42Ghz 57FPS CoreDuo 1,66Ghz 86FPS
source: http://barefeats.com/mincd.html
Has anyone performed tests with HD7750 and some sh*tty old singlecore x86 from y2005 or so? Or by using modern x86 CPU clocked down to 1Ghz? It would give some clue what should be possible to achieve with weak CPU but strong GPU. _________________ - KimmoK // For freedom, for honor, for AMIGA // // Thing that I should find more time for: CC64 - 64bit Community Computer?

| Think about this:
the AMD driver are passed through many versions and name schemes (literally hundred of version)
the actual version is 14.12.
Hans driver are only at the version 2.10 and not all featureshas been implemented. So i think Hans has done a wonderfull work till now. _________________ retired

We all now the underlying Warp3D API is hopelessly out of date since no new features have been added since the Voodoo 3 era, it doesn't even support hardware T&L. |
Exactly my point!
The use of Warp3D was a terrible idea from the very beginning, nothing good can ever come out of it! And here AeonKit is once again plowing down money in "looser" stuff that can never go anywhere (like the "Xorro/Xena" before it, and the X1000 in its entirety BTW, for example). It's not about "fine tuning" and "improvements in the future", any improvements will be very marginal compared to using the "real" stuff instead!
First they sell systems with certain RadeonHD GFX cards. Then they suddenly decides not to support those GFX cards sold, so people will have to buy new ones, top of the line RadeonHD cards that should be able to perform really impressive results in any other machine (as I tried to illustrate in the youtube video above), but the drivers they sell for those state-of-the-art HD7xxx cards produces such a poor results that a ultra-slow and limited "G2" Efika 5k2 @400 MHz with a 12 year old 9800 card runs over it and stomps it into the ground!
Everything about this stinks badly, the "business practice" (forcing people to upgrade), selling the 2D drivers separately, selling the 3D drivers separately, and also the C-R-A-P results that are delivered! It's weird, it's rotten, it's ugly! They should be ashamed about this, but they aren't!

getting 20% performance gain from the driver itself is a decent gain even if the overall result is poor because of other factors. |
Going from 1 fps to 2 fps would be an impressive 100% increase, but it would still a crap result!
And this is a crap result, any way you look at it! |
