software Classic   software Classic : Gorky 17 for AmigaOS 3.x (68k) will be released on 28.06.2024
posted by AmigaPapst on 26-Jun-2024 16:19:46 (2063 reads)
We are pleased to announce that we have been appointed by Hyperion Entertainment as distributor of another game and will soon be able to offer the game Gorky 17 for AmigaOS 3.x (68K).

Gorky 17 is a horror conspiracy game that combines strategy and RPG elements.
The game has a strategic combat system similar to the famous Amiga RPG Ambermoon - or the more recent Baldur's Gate 3 - and also utilises point-and-click adventure elements. The story is also driven forward by voice samples and atmospheric music.

Compared to the AmigaOS4 version, the videos have been updated to a higher resolution and further localisations have been added. The localisations will of course also be made available for the AmigaOS 4 version.
The game has been localised in English, German, French (French only with subtitles), Italian, Spanish, Russian, Polish and Hungarian (via download).

System requirements
- PiStorm (Pi3/Pi4/PiCm4) or Vampire V4 or UAE
- At least 180 MB RAM on loaded Workbench
- Requires either CybergraphX or Picasso 96 installed, no support for AGA, requires Chunky 640x480 16 bit mode
- AHI required
- Requires approx. 1 GB free hard disc or SD card memory

Features
- A captivating story with great characters
- Deep sci-fi horror atmosphere in an abandoned Polish town
- Original monster design and a great mix of turn-based battles and adventure elements

The game will be delivered in a bundle with the OS4 version. The retail price is 34.95 euros. The pure AmigaOS 4 version will only cost 29.95 euros from this date.
The game comes in the form of the OS4 version (DVD case, with printed manual), as well as a USB stick with the installer for the 68k version.

The release date is 28 June 2024 and can already be pre-ordered at the following link

And everything is a-ok with copyright owners of the games you happen to have source code for still?

MagicSN Quote:

Yes of course.

Please be aware that defamation is a crime. And yes, even if you do it because of ideological differences or because I "support the other Amiga variant".

Please differentiate between your hatred towards certain people and what is right to do and what isn't. Defamation and something bordering defamation is definitely not right.

I never caused you any harm, so I do not deserve you starting lies or even "hinting at lies".

At the very least your answer implies I would take "lightly on copyright/contractual law". Which actually I don't.

My interpretation of kolla's question is that it is a valid and logical question and not a personal attack on you. Some contracts/licenses have termination clauses for insolvency/bankruptcy including those written by Ben Hermans (e.g. 2009 contract agreement between Amiga Inc and Hyperion). How much danger of insolvency/bankruptcy is Hyperion Entertainment in?

https://sites.google.com/site/amigadocuments/hyperion-entertainment Quote:

On March 19, 2024, a bankruptcy proceeding was opened against Ben Hermans BV. As Ben Hermans BV is the majority owner and director of Hyperion Entertainment CVBA, this means that both companies are managed by a court-appointed insolvency curator.

...

While the untenable financial situation of Hyperion Entertainment remained unknown to external creditors, such as the law firms that were continuing to provide legal services to Hyperion Entertainment in its war against Amiga, it was well known to its insiders.

In other secret agreements, in 2019 Mr. Robert Trevor Dickinson, who also was a shareholder of Belgian Hyperion Entertainment CVBA, started preparing for a possible bankruptcy of Hyperion Entertainment by moving assets out of the troubled Belgian company and securing immediate access to the AmigaOS 4 source code.

In April 2024, as a bankruptcy of Hyperion Entertainment CVBA appeared to be imminent, Mr. Matthew Leaman described how "work has been done over the last 6 years in anticipation of this (bankruptcy) event happening".

Also, Ben Hermans has potentially been involved with illegal and criminal behavior including embezzlement, fraud and conspiracy to defraud including with documents and contracts/licenses. There have been multiple lawsuits filed against Hyperion Entertainment that have been contract/license related. Some evidence suggests that there is a "court-appointed insolvency curator" managing Hyperion Entertainment and I suspect there is an ongoing investigation into the multiple Ben Hermans B.V. shell games including incriminating documents found at Hyperion Entertainment. The Hyperion/Ben shenanigans look like a house of cards ready to fall.

Most Amiga users love the idea of Hyperion licensing and porting games to the Amiga. Many Amiga users liked the idea of Hyperion and A-Eon freeing the AmigaOS from an Amiga Inc road block with no future, even by illegal means for some. Now Hyperion and A-Eon are the Amiga road blocks with no future. Amiga users would love to have Hyperion go back to game licensing and porting but I'm afraid that is in doubt. Ben appears to be a predatory opportunist and I wouldn't be surprised if he loses his law license and/or ends up in prison if even half the accusations against him are true (the evidence is stacking up). I hope no more innocent Amiga developers are taken advantage of.

"Now Hyperion and A-Eon are the Amiga road blocks with no future"

No one is stopping anyone for making AROS games, if anyone wants to,
you are a liar, if you say so. No one as told anyone they are not allowed to make AROS games.

Hyperion is on life support and the only thing they are doing with AmigaOS is a money grab from retro 68k AmigaOS upgrades using free labor when the AmigaOS owner wanted it released for free. A-Eon has been using the same failed business model for 20 years and the same PPC old silicon for over 10 years. A-Eon's PPC hardware tech is older that CBMs when they went bankrupt and the value much less competitive. SMP, 64-bit support, process isolation/full mem protection competitive desktop features are pipe dreams (SMP was promoted over a decade ago but never delivered). Do you really believe that all is well in Amiga Neverland?

The really sad thing is that neither Hyperion or A-Eon own the AmigaOS. More and more evidence has come to light that they conspired against the owner to take control of the AmigaOS and Amiga IP. Now that they are dead in the water with zero business viability, they still want to hold on with their death grip. The AmigaOS owner has offered them PPC AmigaOS 4 control as part of negotiations which is generous considering the owner payed for and owns that too but that is not enough for them. Why do the IP squatters deserve exclusive use of AmigaOS?

What has that do with Gorky 17 for 68K Amiga's?
And your dislike for PowerPC is irrelevant.

For Gorky 17 68K demo, my Samsung Evo Plus A1 64 GB SD Card wasn't enough for smooth audio stream. Running Gorky 17 68K from RAM disk is a workaround.

I plan to switch towards SanDisk Extreme Pro A2 class SD Card.
