| @Jorge
sorry i don't understand.
For "AOS4 support", do you mean OS4 on Classic (CyberstormPPC) with daVinci? _________________

oster: TheDungeonDelver Date: 10-Jul-2005 10:58:32: Well I for one think this is an awesome new toy that gives A4000/3000D owners a little something to smile about. I personally hope a Z2 version comes out* for A2000 users (all 100 or so left in the world! ) but as you say, first things first. Best of luck on this endeavor! |
Don't know where you are, but in the U.S. there are a lot of folks who would love relatively inexpensive upgrades such as this. Because of the Video Toaster (and other things like the Super-Gen, etc.) large numbers of A2000's were in sold to video production places large & small. I still use a rev. 4.2 system at work and have one in reserve. I'd use it even more with a graphics card.
At home, once a proven version for the A2000 existed I'd put my Spectrum card on eBay to help pay for it. |

| Oh I'm here in the 'states as well...not an A2000 user though (not out of lack of desire...I'd love to have one of those for nostalgia's sake - and then soup it up thru the roof!). If I were, I'd lobby these guys hard for a Z2 PCI connector.
But more than that the 2000 needs a PPC card, mang. It really, really does. Hmm, maybe this ACK thing will come out for the ol' 2000. That'd be a sweeeeet combo.
Sorry, I'm railing and raving at the moment. _________________ The problem with AmigaOS on PPC isn't that PPC is big-endian. The problem with AmigaOS on PPC is that PPC is dead-endian.

Sure, or any other Classic PPC which might come. In detail: OS4 expansion.library support ? _________________ AmigaOne XE G3/933/VIA/FM801/R200 (fixed), G3SE/600/Voodoo3/Sil680/RTL8139/SBLive! (noiseless!) µA1-MK2/G3/933/R200/CMI8738 XE/G4 (broken 7450/800)

I would like to say that I would spend some money on buying a chip that could store the kickstart and let me boot my A1 in less than 5 seconds. |
Well this should have been on the actual A1 from start IMO! A reflashable chip just like the UBoot one.Last edited by Samwel on 12-Jul-2005 at 11:46 PM.

| @Jorge As the daVinci is based on Prometheus, OS4 support *should* not be a problem.

| Yeah, I suppose it does make more sense to use off-the-shelf stuff for the Amiga these days. I'm just concerned about the hoops you have to jump through to get that pc stuff to work on an Amiga. I once looked at hacking an ISA vga card onto an Amiga... lots of strange registers and crud to deal with ... I had in mind an FPGA "upgrade" of the Amiga chipset, with higher resolution and larger bit-depth. I don't really need anything more than a basic display.
I also did some research on what it would take to do a PCI interface, and I think it could be done with 3 chips- if you use the expansion buss on the cpu card _________________ It's got 32 bits and it uses them all. It's overclocked, watch the bouncing ball!

It would probably even make Zorro2 PCI adapters go much faster... |
Is there such a thing? I don't recall ever seeing one. _________________ It's got 32 bits and it uses them all. It's overclocked, watch the bouncing ball!
