Admittedly though the article isn't very informed. Eg.

Quote:
Amiga launch Amiga DE players for Linux and Windows back in 2001 and in the interim got the technology incorporated into Sharp's Zaurus Linux PDA and Nokia's Mediamaster digital TV receivers.

Which everyone know's didn't happen seeing as the Nokia Mediamaster was dropped and the Zaurus was launched without Intent. Oh well...

Is the news that some news site has posted news on their news page actually news?

@norm
It was the Mediaterminal (I think) that was dropped... the Mediamaster exists but has nothing to do with intent or AmigaDE AFAIK.

Chris

The press release only says "On April 23, 2003 Amiga entered into an Agreement...", not that the actual transfer of assets happened on that date.

" I wonder how come it took them soo long to announce it then."

IMHO, it was handy that BB did not know who owned AOS ...

@Chris_Y

Not entierly correct, yes the Media Terminal was canceled(in fact the hole office was uhm "relocated"), that doesnt mean AmigaDE wasnt running on it or that work was carried out to get that on the machine.

@Messiah

Huh? I didn't say no work was done on this, only that the Mediamaster doesn't run DE or intent (or does it?)

Chris

Can somebody clarify something for me? Am I misinformed or is Tao's Intent® not Java, or a Java Virtual Machine?

@Billsey

The Register got a few things wrong again.

In more detail...

"Amiga's own efforts will continue to centre on Amiga DE, its Java-based cross-platform multimedia delivery system. "

It's Virtual Processor based. Java is an option that runs on top of the VP.

"in the interim got the technology incorporated into Sharp's Zaurus Linux PDA and Nokia's Mediamaster digital TV receivers. "

Aargh! Why did they need to mention those... No more bitter things to mention?

"it has been polishing off old Amiga games and re-issuing them for the PocketPC platform. "

Complete ####.

THIS News has also featured in PCDESKTOPS - HOW DOES YOUR GUI LOOK TODAY?
Quote:
Amiga, Inc. announced that it has sold the Amiga Operating System to KMOS, Inc, allowing Amiga, Inc to focus on the growing mobile market.

(NB - This site seems to be based about the subject of 'Skinning' for the desktop.)

A 'Google-search' for the term "Kmos" now brings up . . about 8,830. results with various announcements of THE sale, and community discussion, being included with other results.
