Events   Events : Video of AmiWest banquet available
posted by MikeB on 26-Aug-2004 8:52:27 (4650 reads)
AmigaWorld.net in co-operation with AmigaOne Productions have made available a video taken at the AmiWest 2004 banquet. This 45 minute video mainly contains Dr. Garry Hare's full banquet speech/Q&A including his historical announcements that KMOS Inc acquired Amiga Inc and Capacity Networks.

At this point I would recommend to download the Real version if you have Realplayer installed. The MPEG version I have just downloaded does not work correctly for me, lots of frame skipping and it just halts after a few minutes.

Earlier Paul had troubles converting the DVD original I sent him into a DivX version, so maybe this problem is related.

How about the 9mb (wmv) version? I am getting it anyway. With dail-up that is the better choice for now.

@ Coder

That one works fine but isn't of high quality.

Video size: 180x144

That will do at first. I can always get the bigger one, and better, later on.

@ angrybrit & poweramiga2002

Thanks for the info.

Must be something with my system then.

Paul told me he did have trouble creating this MPEG and to make it work on his system at first as well, he doesn't know why it took him several attempts.

BTW, it mainly took this long to get the video out because during my stay in the States I did not have access to a system capable enough to create a decent capture.

"The MPEG version I have just downloaded does not work correctly for me, lots of frame skipping and it just halts after a few minutes."

Works very well here on A1/OS4 using AMP, no skipping, smooth and video and sound all in sync

I wish I could download any of them, every time I start a download, it stalls after about a minute or so. I had this happen the last time I was downloading stuff from AmigaOne Productions.

I tried to download the Real version this morning and it stalled half way through. I tried twice more during the day and couldn't even get the download to start. Nothing would load. I settled for the Windows version which was plenty. There's nothing much to see, and I only wanted to finally hear what Garry said.

I use Netscape 6.2 on Windows XP.

Hi,

I don't care about speeches. I care about what I see (or I don't see) coming from KMOS.

Anyway, thanks AmigaOne Prod for your work.

Yeah thanks to Paul for converting my video into different formats and providing the webspace, but it was me who travelled from Europe to the States, shot and edited this video personally.

And you seem to care enough to comment though.

OK, PMing you.

BTW, tt seems I am not the only one having problems with the MPEG version:

Maja @ amiga-news.de:

Quote:
Das MPEG ist fehlerhaft, bringt WMP, WMM und TMPGEnc zum Absturz, VitualDub meldet "no video frames found"."

The MPEG functions incorrectly, crashes WMP, WMM and TMPGEnc, VitualDub states "no video frames found"."

Thanks Mike and Paul.

It was nice to actualy see the AmiWest banquet et al.

Also nice to again experience and rethink the very hopeful message Garry Hare shared with us.
