Unless of course you are one of the over 280 million people who understand the French langugae. Here in Holland many people study French, in Belgium a majority of people understand French very well.

@All

These videos are taken too far from the screen to see something.
It's too much work for a transcript but I can give some outlines:

On part1:
Glames shows a hard reboot and then a soft reboot.
He shows then the early startup menu.
In OS4, he talks about new stuff like the Uboot prefs program. He explains briefly what can be done in this program.

Someone in the audience asks if there is any kind of security like some blocked preferences to stop the user messing around with the OS and making it unusable.
Glames replies accordingly (i.e. No).

Glames talks about the filesystems. He says that he has a fixed XE and he uses FFS2. He says that UAE loads far faster than before now that DMA is enabled.
He showes to the audience a copy of a big file from a partition to another to show them how it goes (talking about speed).

He shows the new UnArc and demoes the unarchiving of a big archive.

He inserts an audio CD and shows how the OS displays the sound tracks: directly as AIFF files. He plays a track, and copy one to disk.

Audience ask for camera support through USB. Glames answers that some of them work. A good thing to do is to gather information before buying a camera.

Then Glames talks about the video capabilities of OS4. He says that playing a DVD without DMA (with a non-fixed board) was too slow and the video stopped very often.
Now with full DMA, there's no problem anymore.
He shows mplayer and DVplayer and say that only mplayer can play encrypted DVDs.

Then he talks about Warp3D and he shows GLMatrix.

@ our French and Italian friends

The French aMiGa=PoWer Magazine is currently @ issue 24 (AmigaOne XE review, Descent FreeSpace review, etc).

A new issue of the Italian Amiga Magazine BitPlane is also available (AmigaAnywhere special, AmigaOS4 article, etc).

The audio is ok, but i was talking about the picture quality. Perhaps it would have been enough with samples.

Hi Mike! The http link seems to point to the french magazine, not to BitPlane.

Ciao!

@ Giovanni

Thanks, fixed the link. My keyboard must have been too far from the receiver when I tried to copy & paste the link. Need to buy some new batteries...

@Elwood,

Thanks for sum-up!

Video quality is indeed low but the whole speech took me almost 2 hours.
Video was made with a small camera and quality reduction was intentional to reduce size.

As MikeB said, it was more for sound than for pictures. But, concerning OS4.0, all that I said is what you can all (amiga1 owners) see everyday on your screen. I talked about update #3 and its new features (listed on Hyperion website) with a user point of view. I didn't represent OS4 team so I didn't say anything you don't already know.

Concerning Word Me Up XXL, game is going forward nicely and works well on a XE/Voodoo (50 fps in 640x480 screen/window): it was what I showed last week-end; screens, options, game, setup program, etc. But today, only 5-10% of graphical art is done.

BTW, if you are a graphical artist that can do 2d cartoon like in "Brian The Lion", "Superfrog", etc, contact us (put wmup in title please).

Thanks for your interest,

Glames

I first thought this was news about OS4 presentation at Assembly demoparty here in Finland NASS'embly name sounds like a typo or some kind of clone of Assembly even if NASS'embly seems to be 10000 times smaller event

OS4 presentation at Assembly would be great too

You could release the high resolution video files as bittorrent file to save bandwidth. I'm sure that some guys here (myself included) will help you sharing.

@Govianni,

Sorry but I am not the author of these movies. That said, I don't think there is a better quality video: only a bad quality video was made if I remember well.

Sorry.
