| I had this very strange problems with smbfs with my Amiga 4000/OS3.9, which may or may not be useful for troubleshooting part of your guide. I wrote about this, not so long ago, at A.org.
When I tried to to connect my Windows PC's shares with smbfs, usually my amiga locked up or gave some 8000004 error, or errors: smbfs: Unknown error - (1,67) smbfs: Cannot connect to server (5, Input/Output error) smbfs: Could not connect to server (5, Input/Output error)
I tried everything, increased stack etc. I could ping my pc, I could use smbclient to browse my shares and even use them with it's ftp-like system. Out of curiosity, I tried smbfs with wrong password, and it gave Access denied/Permission denied, but when using correct username&password, I got those errors.
I even made fresh install of AOS3.9 with only network-drivers, genesis and smbfs installed, but that wasn't not necessary. I accidentally found out, that the issue was with Locale-setting in WB! When I used my Finnish-languge as preferred one in Locale, I got those errors - when I switched to use ONLY English, everything worked. I tried this multiple times, and even installed AmigaOS clean, and the only reason was Finnish (Suomi) locale. I'm not sure, if this error occurs with other non-English locales too. | At least here in Aweb, there is a minor problem on http://samba.amigaworld.net/samba-os4-4.htm
I'm guessing there should be a
or
in "Open up notepad and enter or copy and paste, the following into your "services" file located in your Devs/Internet/ Drawer netbios-ns 137/udp" near the end ;) |
