I didn't know that the Power6 was being developed in Germany. I also didn't know that IBM was a German company. Or is this all just because the presentation has been given in Germany? |

| That sounds remarkably familiar, em, hold on...
Yes, try here.
I don't think the register would be to happy having their stories copied verbatim, especially without accreditation.
Anyway it's since been pointed out on another forum that there are other IBM docs indicating the release is this year. The previous story about the chips coming in at a much lower frequency than expected appears to be a load of twaddle. _________________ Whyzzat?

| this is hilarious. at best its completly unfounded, but unfortunatly its factual incorrect as well. all the way from "silicon speculators have grumbled about more delays" to the "will be relying on a dual-core chips while rival Sun Microsystems heads to 16 cores" which is downright laughable bad journalistic.
never mind the simple fact that ibm never have done roadmaps. all they do is general overview presentations- im sure the old roadmaps from mid 90s are available somewhere too, so lets cook up a story on those as wel, eh? |

If you are going to copy verbatim an article from another source, it is usual practice to at least acknowledge that source. Some article owners also like to be asked first if you plan on doing a complete cut 'n' paste job of their work.
Most don't mind snippets being referred to with a link to the original article, but I am sure they wont appreciate the entire thing being used with no reference to who actually wrote it originally. _________________ Test sig (new)

Yes, but this article is about the POWER line of processors, not PowerPC. |

But Power directly affects the future of PowerPC since PPC is built upon Power technology.
It all rolls down hill. What affects Power will ultimately affect PowerPC. |
