Slashdot must have been desperate for news to bother with this.

at least it didn't have the "haha"-tag microsoft almost always gets

unfortunately it now has the following tags:

"amiga, os, vaporware, deadhorse, colddayinhell "

haven't seen colddayinhell before

I don't mind OSNews so much, but it's just embarassing when Amiga vapor news hits slashdot.

You know, I love Linux and I'm on my Macbook now running OS X and I use my PC with Win XP on it, but I still long for Amiga hardware and software. While the current situation is sure to not change in the near future, it's still comforting to know that a group of Linux snobs on Slashdot, who probably on average never ran an Amiga, "Just Don't Get It."

I would hate to have people like that in my community.

Wait... what?

Can't resist the feelin' of speakin' out nonsense again, Bill?

I am sure that the very small reputation of Amiga platform is strongly harmed by speaking of ridiculous things, like "The product that we are going to ship is going to be much better than OSX from Apple..." by the leader of the thing, formerly known as holding the intellectual property of the Amiga brand.

So, I have a message to you, Billy (concerning you were kind enough to send us a message, who you clearly don't know at all):
If you felt speakin' out again - don't. Just ST*U please, and do whatever you think your job is. Don't do any more harm than you already managed to land on us. Thank you.

Oh, and one more: please don't name any further crappy product of yours after the name Amiga. Won't help to shell your boxes, you should have noticed already with DE. Now you rename it to AmigaOS5? Come on, I know you are a really clumsy businessman, but repeat the same failure over and over again?

MobbyG:

For one thing, I stopped reading slashdot years ago and many others have too - but that is another topic. I think you are mistaken about linux users and Amiga-respect. I think there is still a lot of respect for what the Amiga was, and a ton of users went from Amiga to Linux. There have been several window managers centered around workbench gui, near carbon copies of DirectoryOpus's interface, trust me the "cred" is there. But lets face it - its 2007...

The latest back and forth of announcements of announcements and "open letters" is nothing that hasn't been seen in the last 10 years- several times over. To an ex-amigan or a kid who is bash hacking that was 2 years old when the last A1200 was made is just simply not going to get it.

We need to accept that in its current state, we have become irrelevant, gosh - years ago - but keep moving forward to make that change. (Aros/MOS/and yes - os4 perhaps) Who cares what others think really - lets just get some projects finished and then come to the table as a now, hobby os, that needs another look.

I kind of look at this as a small garage band that is frustrated and ticked-off that their 2 song demo tape was scoffed at by rolling stone magazine for its production quality and its press kit was written with a crayon. What do we expect?

Well spoken Rachy. Bill needs to hear it like it is...he has pretty much nada for respect. If he has any fanboys, they will be shouted down, even smack down in the middle of amigaverse...and goodness knows only what slashdot is going to comment about him.

To the other commenter...slashdot has tons of cred. Maybe you stopped reading it, maybe you were trying to make a point (you know you read it!)....but, regardless they are well respected.
