hardware OS4   hardware OS4 : SW-SyncTool ready
   posted by Micha1701 on 18-Sep-2008 4:03:53 (2231 reads)
SW-SyncTool mirrors as many sourcedirectories to targetdirectorier as you want. In a later synchronization, only the files will be copied which have changed.
If source files are deleted or moved, they are also deleted in the target. Files in the target, which are not in the source, are removed.

What a slick program, I have 2 HDs & use one as a backup drive. Just gave it a test run & it worked great, backups will be so much easier & quicker now.

Nice. On my PC I use sync-back, but always wanted something like this for the Amiga too.

Just tried it, works great

It would be even more useful if it could check for hard/softlinks and recreate them in the destination drawer. Currently it just copies the files the links are pointing to so all links would be lost if trying to restore the originals from the backup/mirror.

Also, during the copy the "Abort" string on the button appears in German.

Calling this a "sync" tool seems a bit misleading, because it is essentially just an "incremental backup" program.

IMHO the word "sync" (synchronisation) should be reserved for bi-directional synchronisation, such as my (now rather ancient) FolderSync program does, as does (more recently) Microsoft's SyncToy.
