Internet News   Internet News : Debian and AmigaOS on Sam440
posted by elwood on 3-Jan-2009 16:33:31 (2961 reads)
Hello everyone,

Here is an article which describes how to run both Debian and AmigaOS 4.x on the same harddisk of a Sam440 system.

It explains step be step how to install Debian and how to use the Parthenope bootloader to load both operating systems.

Enjoy!

Very nice finally we have the details required to dual boot Linux and AmigaOS4.1 on Sam440.

Hopefully 2009 will be a year of easy availability of hardware to run OS4.1 and good support for the hardware.

Cheers mate, if you weren't around I would have been unable to set it up for the demo at the AmiCon party. Great idea to make this public, so that everyone can do it if they want.

That sounds good. Any idea if it can be made to work for the A1?

Tried it today, works fine... windows opening/redraw is a bit slow on my SAM though, might be a bad configuration/wrong drivers from my side (I am not an Linuxer att all).

ATTENTION: Found out that under the chapter "Creating the configuration file" following line is different to my setup:

kernel /boot/uImage root/dev/sda2 console=tty0

After installing following line was already there, and worked fine for me:

kernel /boot/uImage root=dev/sda2 console=tty0

Greeting gerograph
