Hardware News   Hardware News : Sam 'Flex Cube' Pré-Order at I.M.M. Informatique
   posted by Faranheit on 2-Apr-2009 14:31:18 (3929 reads)
Hi all there ;)
Yet another great news today :)

Next to the ACube Systems news, we have put a new complete system on our website based on the Sam440Flex motherboard.

We propose to you the Sam 'Flex Cube' complete configuration with its 667Mhz processor, 512MB of memory, a Radeon 9250 128MB graphic card, one 250GB harddisk, one dvd writer and the AmigaOS 4.1 software pre-installed (original CD included).

And if you want more power, just add 65 euros on your order and you will get 1GB of memory and the processor overclocked at 800Mhz !

Don't hesitate and pre-order your complete system or your motherboard now ;)

Thanks for ACube Systems for these new products ;)

Laurent aka Faranheit

From ACube announcement:
Quote:

Suggested prices to end users are:

* 369 euro sam flex 667 Mhz
* 399 euro sam flex 800 Mhz

From your site:
http://www.informatique-imm.lu/catalogue/F_frame.html?http://www.informatique-imm.lu/catalogue/F_art_5379.html
465 Euros for the 667MHz.

I'm assuming VAT or something 'extra' is in there, what is it/cost without?

@wegster

French VAT is (as far as I can tell) 19.6%, that covers most of it...

Also, interestingly enough, they advertise the 800MHz version at 489.

In any case, "recommended end user price" does not mean "if you charge more than this there will be pitch forks and torches".

You don't like the price? Shop elsewhere.

@ wegster

I understand their news as being a complete system as opposed to only the motherboard at ACube.

As far as I know, US buyers don't pay VAT, we pay the euro to usd plus shipping. Not sure about customs though, I know when I bought my micro board from Canada, there was no custom fee.

667MHz system is $1110 usd
800MHz system is $1198 usd
At todays exchange

Why is there such an obsession in this community with MHz these days?
If it does the job at 800Mhz, why do you need a Ghz?

Rude!

How do you overclock a SAM? Going from 667MHz to 800MHz is a 20% jump. It would be a nice replacement for my micro, but how safe is it to overclock the board?

Edit: Never mind, just read ACube's post.

@olegil - thanks, I have no idea what amounts VAT are, was hoping for Farenheit to clarify for US users, or perhaps that price included OS4. If VAT is 19.6 (looked quickly, saw same #, but also referecne to 15% somewhere else..?), then yeah, that's pretty close to the price difference.

@moxee - yes, the news item was, but I have little interest in a system for $1200USD-ish, thus was looking at the mobo bare prices, and saw the discrepancy with ACube suggested retail prices, so asked.

@sundown
Yeah, ouch. I do like some of the latest mini cases, but no idea on customs cost, etc..too rich for my blood, maybe amikit US will be better for those in the US..I would like to know if anyone knows what it costs for customs from France to the US, though. Been a fairly long time since I've bought something to ship from overseas..

I like the case they are offering. The swing top looks like it will allow easier access to the motherboard. In fact, I changed the specs to 800MZ/1GB and clicked the shopping cart icon. My screen dragbar flashed black and IBrowse just reloaded the page. Does this site work with an Amiga? Now that I think about it though, I don't know if I like the idea of ordering from someone I can't communicate with since I don't speak French. Maybe it's for the better that the shopping cart icon didn't work.

@Wegster+Xenic

Ehrm, why don't you order directly from an US reseller? There are 3 of them listed

Btw, good to see some new hardware
