hardware OS4   hardware OS4 : NoWinED 0.79 out!
   posted by ShInKurO on 12-May-2009 16:38:29 (3792 reads)
NoWinED is a MUI-based TextEditor that can handle more files simultaneously,
using different "pages" for each file.[...]
NoWinED has born to be a portable MUI program, and in fact it exists for every
Amiga flavour (OS3.9, OS4, MorphOS, AROS).

Read more...

You find it on aminet or on its homepage:

http://shinkuro.altervista.org/amiga/software/nowined.htm

NoWinED offers:

- Handling of multiple files through tabs that can be managed via
"titleButtons", a list, and/or an useful context menu which you can open if
you click with right mouse button on right scroll titlebutton (this one
appears when it's necessary);
- Context menus;
- Search and replace module;
- Search into opened files module; [NEW!]
- File Drag & Drop: dragging one or more files on the NoWinED list
the files will be opened in new tabs, draggin a file on a page will open it
on the current page. Finally dragging more files on a tab will open the first
file in the current tab, and the others in new pages (AROS lacks Drag &
Drop);
- Basic texteditor features (C&P, select all, Undo, Redo, etc...). "Select all"
does not work on AROS due to the (bugged) version of TextEditor.mcc on this
Amiga flavour;
- Usage from keyboard supported;
- UTF support (you can load UTF files and export UTF with/without BOM or
ASCII);
- CR/LF/CR+LF support (you can load any kind of txt file and export text
with LF/CR/CR+LF);
- Wrapping process of your text at the column you want;
- Backup of all opened files (you can set time between a backup process and
another one);
- AutoSave of current file (you can set time between a autosave process and
another one);
- Graphic printout;
- Programmable Fn keys, with indipendent profiles; [NEW]
- Exists on all 4 Amiga flavours;

See Changelog file for new features of this version

I would how hard is it to convert a Text Editor, like this in to a Word Processor that uses Fonts, Bold, Italics, Underline etc?

Sorry but Zune 68k has many problems and I don't make a version for Zune 68k (it has same problem on AROS, but on AROS I've done a special version which knows that there is Zune ;D), sure you can donate, there is a link into my site, if you have some problem please send me a mail

btw Zune has not d&d functionality and many nice things you can do with NoWinED you can't do

@ShInKurO

It seems to be a nice program, but why you name it as a "marrano editor"?

PD.- I´m assuming that "marrano" has nearly the same meaning as in spanish.

ShInKurO: i do not demand a special version for zune 68k. on afaos mui apps can be promoted to zune. the workaround for zune you mention in the changelog seems to work on 68 as well. current version seems stable. so its more than fine with me. as for d&d, i thought it is mainly a question of mui classes, i have to check later if and where zune lacks it. it would be sure a drawback if not now then for future developments even if reaction seemingly lacks it too.

@wawa
Yep, Zune misses totally d&d support because nobody has implemented it, in fact Wanderer/AROS workbench.library hasn't a public d&d API and so Zune can't interact with them... however Zune 68k should use Workbench/workbench.library d&d API, in this way it could help even Wanderer to reimplement these kind of APIs...

In addition to this Zune has many problems with TheBar class in particular way when you add and remove at runtime thebar objects from a group which contains other thebar objects... in this case you will have a freeze with Zune. For this reason I suggest you to not una NoWinED 68k with Zune 68k because it uses in many areas TheBar... My workarounds on AROS NoWinED version removes these use of thebar into AROS NoWinED (and in fact NoWinED on AROS appears very ugly...).
You can only wait someone will fix Zune... and use MUI3.8

I don't think this problem still exists. When have you last tried?

no problem! :) under afa_os zune pomotion can be switched on or off almost instantly. i only have to restart the applikation once i edited the list of promoted programs in zune prefs utility. quite comfortable. i just kind of test stuff under afa, so i noticed all these hits the last version caused and wanted to report that it seems to work ok now. bernd_r already told me it was actually zune's fault.

@Georg

Not in the latest nightbuild, but if you tell me that thebar problem is gone I can try and tell you on aros ml results :)
In any case it would be fixed for Zune on AROS, while Zune 68k would have to be sincronized with this version to avoid crashs on OS3.x
