Great news....AmigaKit have always provided me with excellent items, good service and always reply to anything I ask.

I will be purchasing my Sam-Flex as soon as it has the soon to be released 4.1.1 update is ready. Hopefully that will be before christmas as I am chomping at the bit.

As soon as the new update is there AmigaKit can count on my order!!!

Hoping to make it down for Amiga Revival also!!

Why wait for the os update? Buy it now and you can upgrade when it comes out.

Because I was thinking that this new upgrade might be a fresh install job as opposed to just upgrading. Also I would rather purchase with it pre-installed and then start adding to it myself as opposed to maybe having to re-install stuff after installing the upgraded 4.1.

I don't think they are going to fabricate a new CD for AmigaOS 4.1.1
most likely AmigaOS4.1.1 is going to be a download only version, its more cost efficient that way.

So the only thing you really need is the hardware and the AmigaOS4.1 registration number.

Make a backup of your Workbench partition/drawer before updating. If something goes wrong and you have to do a fresh install you can just copy any thing you've added since you first got your Sam and adjust your user-startup where necessary.

I thought they were going to ship out new cds to all registered owners as well?? Why make packaging and so on for a copy that is just a standard cd-r with a beta version? I really hope they ship out a pressed cd like they did when OS4.0 was final. I kinda expected to get a physical disc considering the price...

amiga os 4.0 has never been out with a final package, instead os4 was released as a pre-release in a small cd package. The final iso was only available through the Hyperion portal. You had to download the iso and burn it by yourself..

Only the Amiga os 4.0 Classic was available with package and all the updates were available through the hyperion portal..

So it is the same with Amiga os 4.1 for Sam Board.. the new update/iso will be available through the Hyperion portal

Amiga has been a "do it yourself" affair after Commodore bankruptcy, come to think about it though, customers that will buy a Pre-Configured Sam this Christmas will have an Amiga experince similar to, say, an A1200!
What was the last time you could easily purchase a new system with full warranty, that perfectly works out of the box and sports a Final version of AMigaOS? (I say Chirstmas as the 4.1.1 update should be available).
I mean they receive the machine, switch it on and bang! OS4.1.1 greets them ready to please!

Can't blame you for wanting something that works well out of the box, no fiddling! Some of us built & installed our machines from scratch, then waited for beta bug fixes, but not everyone wants to do that.

Perhaps you could phone AmigaKit, and order a Sam440 on the understanding that they won't ship it until OS4.1 update 1 is installed on it? That should get you it as fast as possible.
