| Intresting, Trevor gives an APPROX Price for the CPU of About E 450 ?
So given $450 for the CPU, and $150 for AOS 4.x, on similar lines to current pricing, you have $600 before you even have a Mobo?
Oh well.. keep saving.. My A500 and printer cost £600, this is 2-3 times the cost for up to a Million times the power.
Or after inflation.. about 1.5 times the cost. _________________ The older and more respected a scientist is, the longer it takes to prove him wrong.

| Good interview, only a little more in depth, not only speak of near future, and future a long-term. |

| 400 to 450 euro for a CPU was to be expected. All along it was said that it would be highend. It really amazes me how much people were thinking about 100 euro for the CPU.
High end starts at 300 euro for the PC. AMD and Intel sell a lot more then any PowerPC manafacturer. Less mass production just means a higher price because you still need R&D.
Over the last few years a really got annoyed with a lack of realism in the Amiga community.
PC motherboards built for tweakers and overclockers aren't mass produced either and carry a price tag of 300 euro's and more too. Gigabyte has built a specialist motherboard for overclockers with a price tag of 550 euro. No mass production either.
Please keep it real people. This thing is a complete computer not mass produced and highend. Expect a price tag of 2000 euro.
1500 euro or lower was a naive idea and this community is way to naive most of the time. Last edited by PulsatingQuasar on 27-Jun-2010 at 12:46 PM.

Yes, they were "high-end" (at least in "Amiga market sense of this word")... but that was in 2002. Now we have 2010. Right time for new "high-end" system, I think. |

| I agree, A new high end system is welcome.
It would be great if this is a restart for the Amiga market, leading to more users and in the future lower prices due to more users... |

| Thanks. That was interview I was looking for. Honest and to the point. I can only wish we had "Amiga, Inc" CEO like Trevor back in late 90s. Despite my cynicism I hope this project will somehow succeed and bring something sweet to OS4 users. It won't be easy but at least there's a glimmer of hope. _________________ OpenWindows Initiative. | A good read. For me enough information for the moment. Mr. Dickinson sure is in a position where he would like to share more info but wasn't allowed. What is also good to read is that he expressed that SAM has her own place and would keep her own place. The fact that he thinks SAM is a better base for a laptop shows to me that he isn't about taking sales from ACube, but rather wants to live next to each other.
I must say that I'm very interested to read about the first user tests of the X1000. _________________ Back home...

And Pentiums 60 MHZ was once a time high end and cost more than Amiga 4000.So What? _________________ No PowerPC, No Fun Make Amiga Great Again

Commodore didn't earn much (any?) from the A1000, only the 'budget' A500 saved the company for a few more years. I'd have thought a cheap 460 + XMOS + PCiExpress machine would have sold better but there you go. |

Intel produced and sold a lot more than the 250 x1000 batch announced. There's no way price will go down this way. That's what... _________________ http://www.warpdesign.fr/
