Internet News   Internet News : AUI Magazine relaunches website
posted by auimag on 7-Jul-2010 12:39:56 (3552 reads)
Amiga User International (AUI) has recently refreshed its website.

The site has been kept on the web since the printed magazine closed in 1997 but has been neglected since 2006.

Now hosted at www.aui-magazine.net, the page keeps the traditions of the original magazine alive with Amiga News, the famous TechnoWorld and more.

So when is AUI relaunching then? :)

Thanks for bringing the site back to life. Any chance we can see issue archives released and available on the site? :)

If there was enough time and money, AUI could relaunch as an e-magazine... but we'll just stick with the website and Facebook for now.

Back issues and SuperDisks have, regretfully, been lost. So little chance of my resurrecting them. However, there is the Amiga Magazine Rack project which does have some scans.

I also have some indexes which I will put up on the site.

Great to see AUI back even if it is just a site.

I still keep quite a lot of AUI superdisks, AUI was one of my favourite Amiga magazines. I guess many of the disks that used diskspare.device will probably have corrupted but if you need certain disk I could try to recover the contents.

Back in the years of my youth, AUI was my favourite Amiga magazine: there was something special I missed in every other competing magazine, and my only regret is that it was really hard to spot where I live (a mid-range town in Italy, near to Milan), at the point I had to contact the distributor and have my newspaper reseller ordering and keeping the mag just for me every month.

I've just looked to your site and I'm a little - romanticly - disappointed. It's good to have kept traces of the magazine, but I think it deserves a larger database of informations (old articles, at least), a better web design (well, actually a web design at all) and more over a brighter future: AUI site might become a reference point for this community again, if only there were more money available in this thin marketplace. The was something magic in the AUI magazine and you should try to get it back on the site: I think that with the help of this divided, but faithful community you can shine again on the web.

Good luck, sincerely, from a old reader.

That's the magic of the internet... you look for something in particular and then spend hours chasing something else!

The original AUI site had very little on it when the magazine was running. I expanded it a bit after 1997, but Amiga news dried up and I was involved in other projects.

The new site is just a beginning - content and design will improve.

I've still got a load of AUI Mags with unopened coverdisks in the cupboard.

AUI was my fave mag as well.

I used to buy it when it was CCI and then later AUI- always a different perspective to other Amiga magazines of the time- very refreshing

"Refreshed" its website - well, it ain't a pretty sight. Then again, quality is overrated - right?

@ AmiDelf2

That takes me back. AUI had a really nice design at that time.

The later design was quite crazy with those blown-up bitmap fonts and all sorts of colours and patterns! I'm quite fond of it though for all its quirkiness and the fact it packed even more good content into the space.

Great magazine.

Chris

I have just completed a 'makeover' and hope you like the new design and layout.
