No problems IMHO

@ Templario

Between 600 - 700 euros (There is a price on Acube's site).

Two more weeks? Sounds familiar...

Seems Vesalia will sell the 460 (motherboard only) for ¤773,9.

Add OS4.x and 1Gb of RAM and you're at ¤917,7, so it's safe to presume a complete system with a nice case would be around ¤1.000:

@Shufflepuck

From ACube's website:

Quote:
Price: the exact price will be announced when the board is available to the user (due the varying USD / EURO exchange rate). It will be in the range of EUR 600 - 650.

I wonder why it's at least 123.90 Euros more from Vesalia? That's a considerable increase.

Regarding value-for-money on the Sam460, Vesalia are currently offering the Sam440ep-flex for ¤584.90, which I assume the community considers to be a fair price. A 460 at ¤773.90 seems to be in line with that, considering that the 460 offers PCIe, DDR2, 333MHz more speed on a better processor than the 440 and an SD Card, among other things.

Also worth noting is the fact that Vesalia don't seem to offer AmigaOS 4.1 'Sam-edition' for sale anywhere on its site - one can only assume it comes bundled with the Sam systems, which would explain the extra ¤123.90 over ACube's price. This would mean a complete system is likely to cost ¤900, after you add some RAM and a cheap-end PCIe graphics card. For us islanders, that's about £780.85.

That's my guess anyway. Does the person with the closest guess get a free machine or something?

As far as I know, SAMs motherboards come with AmigaOS 4.1 together.

I hope you're right. I'd be willing to pay that for a complete system.

We will be adding SAM460 complete systems and motherboards to our AmigaKit webstores at point of product release. Exact price will then be determined subject to exchange rates etc. We will of course be offering the SAM460 for worldwide shipping as per the 440 model.

@mpiva It seem from Vesalia site you'd need to add + ¤121.90 for OS4.1: http://tinyurl.com/39x3pn2

@amigakit I really like the current Sam-Flex case you have on offer, are you planning to use the same for the 460 model?

@ shufflepuck

That takes me back to my original question, why is it so much higher than what's on ACube's website?

According to ACube's site, the Sam440ep-flex (733Mhz) motherboard is ¤360 and the tentative price for the Sam460ex is ¤600-650. I was really hoping the price difference for a complete system would be pretty much the difference in cost of the two motherboards (~ ¤240-260). I'm figuring the difference in cost of the other components will be negligable considering the Sam460 won't need a graphics card but will probably need a SATA controller, will use more standard (ie. cheaper) RAM but prebuilt systems will probably come with a mininum of 1GB instead of 512MB, etc.

If the price for the Sam460 motherboard is really more than a ¤100 higher than expected, they've probably just bumped their product out of my budget range.

@ mpiva Me too, I'm confused, maybe Vesalia is adding VAT, while Acube's estimated ¤600-650 are without taxes.

@mpiva + Shufflepuck
Vesalia website says quite clear:
Quote:
Prices incl. German VAT and excl. shipping costs

Acube website has prices without taxes usually and prices with taxes mentioned between parenthesis. Sam440ep-Flex as example:
Quote:
733 Mhz CPU: 360,00 EUR (432,00 EUR including VAT where applicable)

I googled it and German VAT is 19%. So 650 (Acube price) * 1.19 (German VAT) = ~773 (Vesalia price). And remember that's estimation only. Not final price necessarily.

Don't panic people !

Nice one.

Hope they will maintain the low-end 440(s) (because I'm a potential buyer for those).

@ DiskDoctor,

So when you have a SAM, will that mean that you are no longer a disk doctor, but instead a Disc Doctor?

Cheers.

P.S. The more NG users the better I say.
