software OS4   software OS4 : ZDR, a different way to your lens needs
   posted by Ami603 on 30-Jan-2014 8:03:42 (2764 reads)
Thanks for the fast and powerful composition engine found in AmigaOS 4.1, I've made this little utility to make zooming on such systems a smooth and pleasant experience.
Required Radeon HD series card.

In the meanwhile i've uploaded a newer version with some bugfixes, make sure you download V53.11 which is in the upload queue at the time of writing.
I've also uploaded a fixed SSDR, now at the upload queue as well.

Two excellent programs. Thanks! SSDR would be good to see included with the next official OS4 update. Is there any way of adding a frame around each screen?

Cool! Can it zoom an MPlayer video? In that case one of the lack-of-overlay problems is gone

@Ami603

Tried it out and I get a few problems on a SAM-flex with Radeon 9250 with my Workbench display set to 1280x1024x32

1. When the lens image moves towards the left of the screen or approaches the top of the screen the display goes black (you can still see the lens mouse pointer / icon image0.

The more you zoom in the further away you need to be from the left and top edges to see anything.

2. Less serious but still potentially a problem, you appear to be using an icon as the image for the lens mouse pointer. Not sure which but I'd guess it's multuiviews, but you have no gauarantee that it's a suitable image or size so you should more sensibly be using def_ZoomPointer.info or providing your own image / icon.

Only in your dreams. Think it through it wont take you long to work out how silly your statement is!

@Broadblues:
Thank you for your suggestions, the problems with older radeons are under investigation, since the same code works fine inside SSDR, i would guess there's something wrong in the driver side,which i'm trying to isolate.

As for the icon issue, that's a good idea, and as i already though about possible scaling problems.i'll try to implement it.

I say one of the problems, that about not being able to zoom up small and tiny videos.

It will of course not increase the speed, rather the opposite, but that's not relevant for those tiny videos that you want to zoom.

@Deniil715 :

For tiny, small videos, better to ask to MickJT his MPlayer SDL.

You will be able to resize the video window.
It works very well !

mplayer -xy <factor> -vo cgx_wpa <video>

or

mplayer -x <x size> -y <y size> -vo cgx_wpa <video>

The second allows you to change the aspect ration too.

and pressing f to go fullscreen works with the cgx_wpa video driver too.

@Ami603

Be sure, that your vertex coordinates in the Guard band
( eg. -2048 to 2047 on 9250) all Triangles with vertices outside this area will not be drawn.

The Compositing Engine does not clip the triangles for you, so you must it implement by yourself.

@GoosMcGuile:

Thanks for the tip, i'll investigate further, but due the way the code works the radeon 9xxx 7xxx series won't be supported for now.
