This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill - the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill - you stay in Wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes. Remember: all I'm offering is the truth. Nothing more. (-- Morpheus, The Matrix)

Have you ever wondered what the mysterious Rabbit Hole is about? Check out our video preview:

Moreover AmiKit enriches the default Amiga Operating System (Workbench) with many exciting features and add-ons. We've done all the hard work for you so that your high-end Amiga experience can begin right away.

When the A.L.I.C.E. with AmiKit X is going to be released?

We're working hard to deliver the laptop soon. Stay tuned. Meanwhile join our Facebook fan page for the latest news and previews: https://www.facebook.com/AmiKit

Okay, you got my attention but I don't want to wait...

Download our AmiKit 8 which already is a fully evolved environment available for free for Windows, Linux and Mac. The portable version is even able to boot your computer to AmiKit from USB Flash Disk!

Interesting only if it's faster than Amithlon.

Interesting since I have a laptop (Ubuntu 14.04 LTS) that I don't use at the moment.
But the installation seems to complicated for me, having watched the instructions...

Well you have firs to to get your hands on Amithlon, and second have it working on your machine. And these machines are running out by the day...

Alice? Alice? Who the #?$% is Alice?

So are they doing a Microsoft and skipping version 9, going straight to 10 and cashing in on the roman numerals theme of OSX?

To beat Amithlon it would need to support native Amithlon apps. And run faster by crippling the emulation. But it doesn't look like it made to cut back the experience like Amithlon did.

But this could be like an AmigaOSXL type thing. Being on top of Linux and exposing it where desired. Browser problems solved!

Why this "rabbit hole" feature makes me suspect you deeply studied how it worked Amiga 286 and 386sx bridgeboard cards Janus.library and Janus device allowing PC screens hosted on Amiga desktop and you reproduced it revised and updated on Amikit? Why, why...

What is it?

- Maybe a new version of AmiWM on Ubuntu with a transparent UAE?
AmiWM: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amiwm
UAE: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UAE_%28emulator%29

- Maybe a Linux running AROS hosted with J-UAE and Ubuntu?
AROS: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AROS_Research_Operating_System

- Maybe a Linux Distrubution running UAE with AROS 68k?

- Maybe a VMM with Linux, AROS and J-UAE

-Anubis resurrected

But maybe nothing more than another AOS3.1 Eyecandy package for WinUAE

@Amikit

Congrats. Im more a d.i.y guy myself, but I do tend to turn to amikit when Im in a position that a preconfigured amiga os setup is handy.

@thread

In regards to amithlon and uae, they're too different a kettle of fish to directly compare. Anyone who has used both to any degree will understand this. Which a person prefers is down to them, neither is "better". Calling amithlon crippled and such is a bit silly in my opinion, as is the suggestion that hardware to run it is running out (seriously? pc hardware made between 1995 and 2012 is in short supply? ).
Amithlon supports things like direct memory access, openpci, poseidon/arakattack, lowlevel.lib, x86 be native, etc. Depending on persective a person could argue that something like uae is crippled as well. It'd be a silly arguement, but point being theyre both more suited to certain uses/scenarios.

(I tried to post about this once already and it said my posting privs had been revoked for a day - poss because it was a brand new account...?)

I think this looks superb, and - having sold my AmigaOS 4.1 machine a few years ago - has really revitalised my interest in Amiga.

It's a project with a "good enough" connection to Amiga history, which I could actually use as my main computer. I'm a lying-down laptop user (hence me not using the Sam440 much) and on Ubuntu anyway - so I'll have all my essential apps through the "rabbit hole" feature.

I'll definitely buy one of these when they come out. I just hope there'll be some superficial "modding" of the hardware (e.g., something more suitable in place of the Windows key).

Personally, I think I slightly prefer the blue version of the (lovely) wallpaper, because it reminds me of the default OS 4.1 colours.

Well done all involved.
