A new version of scanner driver XSane for AmiCygnix is now available on OS4-depot.
It includes the current version 0.999 of XSane and version 1.0.27 of the sane backends.
Currently only scanners with USB connector or with network interface are supported now.
New in this release:
The driver software "Sane" has been updated to version 1.0.27. Many backends have been redesigned and two new backends added:
- "epsonds" for the support of Epson DS devices.
- "pieusb" for the support of PIE and Reflecta devices.The driver "HPLIP" of the manufacturer Hewlett Packard was ported in the current version 3.19.8. It supports over 500 HP scanners or all-in-one devices.
Currently only devices with connection to the network are supported!

Display an image in a viewer.Saves images in these picture formats:
- JPEG
- PDF
- PNG
- PNM
- PS
- TIFFConvert images into ASCII text using the OCR software "gocr". The program gocr V0.52 is incuded in this package.Do a photocopy - send a scanned image to the printer.Create multipage documents (PDF, PS, TIFF).Send a fax - needs an external command like "sendfax".Send a scanned image by e-mail.Color managemant (CMS).Batch processing.Can be used as a gimp plug-in (Gimp 2.6.11).And much more...

Got it working in stand alone mode with my HP Photosmart 5520 all in one printer.
Scanned in a couple different resolutions to both PDF and PNG formats. Seem to work well!

That was rather premature thanks from my side as I´m still waiting for suitable hardware. However, having ability to scan to "Amiga" will be a great help for me. |

if the scanner is not detected automatically, please use the tool "HPLIP-Selector" you can find in "Cygnix:Software/XSane-0.999".
(See snapshot on os4-depot: http://os4depot.net/filedata/snapshot/11067_5_snap.jpg ).
All supported scanners are listed here. Please choose the exact model and type in the IP of the device. Then save your selection an launch XSane.
