| The price seems pretty obscene for a bunch of freely downloadable software. Do you pay people for what your entire package is made up of, or does it all go into your pocket?
And no, putting it all together doesn't count as work. You did it all for yourself 1st, and its nothing more than the accumulation of changes here and there over years, exactly as any Amiga users OS is. Even if it did quality as work you'd have nothing if it wasnt for the free software your package consists of, so do you pay people for their hard work that you're profiting from? |

This seems harsh. No one is forcing you to buy this, there's quite a bit of work that goes into polishing this and making it work with all the different variants of Amiga that are out there and Jan is a nice guy and has good support for his product including a dedicated Discord for customers.
You're welcome to your opinion obviously but quite a few people don't want to spend the time manually configuring things to and just want to press a button. If you had checked the homepage you would have seen that packages are certainly used with the authors permission and some of them even have exclusive AmiKit specific versions or the software is exclusive to AmiKit.
Let's keep things friendly over here, there's enough noise in the world. _________________ --- Sibbi

| I have to agree with sibbi here Fishy Fis. You are entitled to your opinion about the price charged, but I and a lot of other users consider Jan's work on AmiKit XE to be well worth the price he charges, and the fact that he has permission from the authors of the included software, and that they actively work with Jan, requesting that some of these softwares be included within AmiKit XE (sometimes exclusively), shows me that many developers value and support his work on AmiKit XE.
As sibbi stated, no one is forcing you to buy Jan's product, so why the hate? How is it any different than AmigaForever?
I think you got out of bed on the wrong side the day you posted this, and I hope you feel better now. _________________ Amiga! The computer that inspired so many, to accomplish so much, but has ended up in the hands of . . . . . . . . . .
