software Classic   software Classic : Ogg Vorbis plugin 2.0 released
posted by softwarefailure on 2-May-2026 19:46:06 (14 reads)
Airsoft Softwair, the hardest working men in code business, are proud to announce that version 2.0 of the OggVorbis plugin for Hollywood has just been released. This is a major update which now adds support for encoding OggVorbis streams as well. Previously, only playback was supported but with Hollywood 11's new sound export interface the plugin can now also save OggVorbis streams. Constant and variable bitrates as well as several quality settings are supported. It's also possible to directly record audio data as OggVorbis now.

Because the OggVorbis encoder is quite big, the plugin is available in two different versions: A compact light version which only supports OggVorbis playback and a full version which supports both loading and saving of OggVorbis streams.

Version 2.0 of the OggVorbis plugin is now available for free download from the official Hollywood portal. Thanks to Hollywood's cross-platform plugin system versions for AmigaOS3 (m68k, m881), AmigaOS 4, MorphOS, Linux (ppc, arm, arm64, x86, x64), macOS (ppc, x86, x64, arm64), Windows (x86, x64), Android (arm, arm64), and iOS (arm, arm64) are provided.

Note that on AmigaOS 3 it's highly recommended to use the FPU version of the plugin because otherwise OggVorbis encoding will be very slow since the encoder used by the plugin is heavy on floating point operations.

This release was brought to you by the hardest working men in code business.
