"Hinted for". Yeah. Like "we are aiming at release on this and that". So what? Windows Longhorn is currently "hinted for" 2007 or 2008. Unreal Tournament 2k4 is currently hinted at
If you want to know, yes we're currently handling the installer CD. It is still mostly (as I said earlier) end-of-this-month-ish. _________________ Seriously, if you want to contact me do not bother sending me a PM here. Write me a mail |

Thanks for the official update!
Two quick questions: 1. Is the Audigy/Audigy2 audio driver going to be in that release, or only on the final one?
2. What graphics boards are going to be supported in the beta? is SNAP support already built in, or only vodoo+radeon until the final release?
Keep up the great work!

I guess so. The Audigy support is built into the "normal" Soundblaster driver.

Voodoo and Radeon until the final release _________________ Seriously, if you want to contact me do not bother sending me a PM here. Write me a mail |

| @Rogue
Radeon meaning (according to Ben Hermans on an undisclosed IRC channel) radeons with the R200 and R100 chip and possibly (ie he didn't confirm it) also RV250/RV280.
Which would mean that these radeons won't work until SNAP:
9500, 9500 Pro, 9600, 9600 LE, 9600 Pro, 9700, All in Wonder 9700, 9700 Pro, 9800, 9800 XT, 9800 LE, 9800Pro
(Cards using RV250/RV280: 9000, 9000Pro, 9100, 9200, 9200LE, 9200 Pro)
( Info from Forefront Technologies )
Right?

| Not necessarily. All the ATI cards I've seen are register-compatible with the old IBM VGA standard (I suspect they have to be, to comply with the Windows "safe mode"), so you should be able to run even a 9800XT in 640x480, 16-colour mode. Not ideal, but enough to tide one over until the final release.
I decided to play it safe and buy a GigaByte Radeon 7000. Cheap, pretty much guaranteed to work, and when Quake 3 is ported I can just buy a faster card

| Um....My Radeon board doesn't work with the Debian ATI drivers. I had to go with the generic dev. Is this bad news for my future 4.0 fantasy? _________________ Have you hugged a Hyperion programmer today? |
