Someone claimed in another thread that the LS120 driver availiable on os4depot doesn´t work with update 3 of OS4 (I would have made a post in that thread instead if I could find it but I can´t, and I have REALLY searched.

Anyway, I found out that the update 3 installer deletes the LS120 driver in DEVS/DOSdrivers (at least it did for me). I just installed the LS120 driver again and set the unit and device and it works fine.

[edit] What´s with the " ´ "s in IBrowse and AmigaOS 4.0?

@Niolator

That was me. I checked the driver and it is in DEVS/DOSDrivers drawer. But no icon appears when floppies are inserted. If I double clic the driver it says it is already mounted.

I'll give it a try once more.

@emeck

I have the LS120 on the internal IDE-controller (a1ide.device). Do you have it on a Sil-card? Did you remember to rename the device to sii680.device instead of sil0680.device in that case? They changed the name of the driver in Update 3.

(I had to reset my UDMA-settings for the Sil-card too as it was reset to PIO-mode by the update 3 installer).

@Niolator

I don't have a sii680 card. The LS-120 is slave in the primary VIA IDE port.

In that case I don´t know what´s wrong. The icon appears on my Workbench when I insert a diskette. I hope you work it out though. Good luck.

[edit] You are using 120 Mb diskettes, right?[/edit]

@Niolator

I used both, 120Mb and 1.44Mb

Tried again, reinstalling the driver but no luck. UBoot still recognizes the device and the driver is mounted but no icon appears

I'll keep trying with other things.

Does it work with 1,44 mb diskettes normaly? I thought that the current driver only works with 120 Mb ones. I´ll have to test it right away. As I said, it works fine on my AmigaOne with update 3, I hope you solve the problem. If I come up with a potential solution I will post it here.

Yes. I mostly use 1.44Mb floppies to carry around small files. Worked without a problem till the update.

Did you made a clean install or over your existing AOS4 installation? Mine was the later.

Mine too. But as I wrote, the LS120-mountlist in DEVS/DOSDrivers was deleted during the update so I installed it again. I also had to set the values for Device an Unit correctly.

Did you let the installer overwrite your old start-up sequence and kicklayout or do you use custom versions? I let the installer overwrite the old ones.

You will need to change the character set in the browser settings... I have not done some testing on my own browsersettings (have reinstalled every thing the other day... shouldn't this be enough testing )

Ah! So there IS a way to use floppies in OS4! I assume it can not use FFS floppies though? The mountfile uses CrossDOS.

Hi guys, I would also like to get my LS120 drive up and runnning (haven't gotten it to work at all yet).

The LS120 driver I downloaded from OS4depot doesn't have the lines for unit and device in the list. can you just add them anywhere?

What else do I need to do?

At least uboot recognizes it!

Just tested my LS120 1.44 and 120meg disks recognised fine

Unit and device are in the icon as tooltypes if I remember correctly you need to attach an icon to the file from OS depot (project icon)
My LS 120 is attached to the internal ide so uses the A1ide.device and is unit 3 (watch u-boot to see what unit it is)

@Dunx

I have solved it differently. I added the lines for device and unit into the mountlist itself, my mountlist doesn´t even have an icon. Maybe that is what differs from emecks installation?

@emeck: Try doing it the way I have (adding the lines into the mountlist itself instead of as tooltypes). Maybe it works then?

@ all

Ok guys, the driver author has return and checked it, and the driver doesn't seem to work with his LS-120.

So, can everybody here using an LS-120 in his/her A1 can post here its configuration and if the update was done with a clean install? Thank you.

Well I just added the lines to my mountlist (much like Niolator did) and this didn't seem to work.

Guess I'll try this method as well.

@emeck

I said that uboot sees the drive just fine and ......... well it does but at the earliest phase of the startup when reading the configuration I get an error Unknown sense key 05 ASC .......... and a row of numbers for my device. Later it just shows the drive and it's product #'s and such.

Don't know if this has anything to do with the problem. Does anyone else see this message in uboot? It's a matsushita drive, pretty old I guess!

Yes. I've always has that error at boot time, but no problem under AOS4 until upd3. Mine is a Matsushita also.

I have an icon with the tooltypes and tried also the mountlist approach but no luck.

Did you installed upd3 over an old installation or made a clean new install?

Weird how it's working for some and not for others.

Niolator and Dunx: Could you send me your edited versions of the mountlist so I can compare with mine, please?

Thanks.
