@fairlanefastback

>Which brings up an interesting point. If the court says Hyperion can no longer use >the Amiga OS branding, then what? Guys like you will lose all interest immediately?

I am not interestet on Brandings, for me count only what work

but what happen if OS4 is not offical solution i think MOS get users then more.when see facts, MOS have more important features as OS4, USB2, good open gl, with ambient a powerful modern workbench, but nobody open a thread as the simular Os4 threads for example Dear MOS Team is now time to

so there seem no intereset that MOS is port to a cheap and powerfull HW ?

>BeOS fans have had to get over the branding with looking for Haiku to be the >replacement.

>OS/2 fans have had to adapt to eComStation as a replacement.

this OS are offical dead and unsupportet.so there is no other solution, this OS do no announcement of the future.

but for OS4 is make hope that some day a wonder happen and a embedded customer that is no amiga Fan realy want buy this slow and exepensive OS4 PPC systems.

and no announce is here that there is a intresting for AROS and until today nobody know when the embedded customer now buy OS4 and SAM.

http://www.amiga-arena.de/interview08/Hyperion_DE.txt

maybe somebody know the english translate link ?

but text in short say

""""
HJF: Wir wollen AmigaOS weiterhin im Embedded-Bereich sehen.
Es gibt bereits Interessenten dafür,
die AmigaOS 4.1 als Multimedia-Content-Platform nutzen wollen (z.B für eine Art Kiosk-System).
""""

mean there is intrestings (text read as not only 1 ), to use amiga OS4.1 for multi media content platform.Kiosk system.

but currently(8 months later) nothing know and it cant say 100% if this vapor announcement or real.

none of the projects HJF and his brother in pipeline have are see since this past 8 Months

but can say, AROS have this announcment not.

sure such a announcement can do for AROS too, and later can say oh #### happen we do best but dont get ready, but thats bad praxis

@eXec

I understand and support your view. I have suffered from that "elite" problem before.

Unfortunatelly, people not always follow pure reason, but feelings or society integration get heavier in the balance too many times. That happens even for geeks, and happens a LOT more in the amiga community: they already became one of the freakiest communities in computing world, seen from outside, but most of them still didn´t realise and continue locked in the past forever.

It is kind of a really bad joke for a platform that started and got its success because of its technology ahead of its time.

It is true that this discussion is futile.

The best programmers at AROS have already decided to move forward with Annubis.

- It's a Clean-break from the legacy API.
- They have moved to the most available platform: x86.
- They solved the driver issue before-hand: It's gonna use Linux drivers.

The question is: "Will the Amiga community accept it?"
Answer: It's IRRELEVANT.

Whatever happens with that new OS only concerns to people that is interested, not in AmigaOS, but in something more abstract and greater. A philosophy of system design. That is what is important of Amiga and what NORMAL people cares about.

The general public cares about satisfaction, productivity, features... The success of Annubis is gonna depend on that. The problem of Amigans is that they don't know what is really good about Amiga and what is bad. The paradox is that, to let Amiga go on, some things must be left behind. It's gonna happen anyway with or without your help.

So this discussion is futile.
