Yes its the Linux hosted version.

As for how long, not sure really, I started on it early in the summer, stopped for a while and then tied up a few loose ends on it before xmas and finally got it to pop up a window.

Most people can reproduce this by playing around with the build tree, getting the latest GCC packages ( you need to go to unstable for this IIRC ) and building and tweaking.

Its not rocket science, it is a bit of a slog though.

However, I guess that means you don't want it.
