Cannot see the point as the aim of AROS is so x86 users can use a good compatible OS to run Amiga applications!! What's the point if we have AmigaOS on PPC? Which is the natural step up from 68k? Some people never cease to confuse me!
We do not have it yet, and we may loose it again. It's always good to have a backup . And I like open source.
Why develop something like a unix-kernel if there is sco unix? We would not have linux.
