Well, I'm happy to say Jamie responded rather quickly, am quoting in near entirety below (as I believe he intended).

So, no direct answer (but he did mention NDA), but perhaps we will yet see AVD completed, or hopefully, Jamie logging in as well at some point in the future. I did direct him to ACube for a possible XE CPU fix, or if anyone has a 'spare' he might be interested..anyone?

Quote:

What I will say publicly, (so you can quote me here),
is that AVD will be returning, and will be completed.
While I intend to complete the work myself, it may be
that an Open Source effort will come into play which
I will oversee.

Currently, my original A1-XE machine no longer boots :(
and my backup Micro-A1 is rather unstable when running
AmigaOS 4.0 (plus patches). I am hoping that the Micro
will become usable again under AOS 4.1, but I have yet
to purchase a copy and find out. I was rather looking
forward to some newer hardware really, maybe even a laptop,
but there you are.

The simple truth is this; I made commitments and I intend
to honor them. However, as with any other commercial
product, AVD can not survive existing only on AmigaOS4 machines
while the numbers of those machines does not steadily
increase. Without continual growth of the target audience,
or the support of a major sponsor, as a commercial offering
AVD has hit a brick wall. This leaves only two choices
as I see it. Make the bridge over to other OSes, or
release the AVD sources to be maintained by the public
directly.

While I would rather not simply give away all of my hard work,
I will do so rather than let it die. That decision has not
been made yet however.

Best Regards,

Jamie Krueger

Bill McE: Oh my god, somebody is making a development environment to make programming AmigaOS easier to do. Then more people might start programming stuff for AmigaOS. Quick, make him stop!

Fleecy: Mr Kreuger, we'd like to offer you a lucrative career. We're sorry but responsibilities of this position may now allow personal time projects in the computer science industry. We don't actually have any actual work lined up for this position just yet, but stick around and we're sure something will turn up eventually.

JK: Uh, so you do not want anyone making it easier for programmers to support your AmigaOS, so that your users might have more variety to use on their Amiga computers? You want to pay me to do nothing at all? As in, pay me to prevent me from doing any work? OK.

Bill McE: Pay? Oh, ah, yea, Amiga Inc. wants to bribe, I mean, salary (snicker) you for this very important position.

(time passes)

JK: (to himself) Sorry Amiga developers. I'd liek to appologize to you for real, but my contract forbids ever talking to the AmigaOS community ever again, or having any relationship or presence with users or developers at all. I wonder where my bribe, I mean "salary" is anyway...
