I just got this mail from Panagouleas:

"A former Netscape Executive (wants to remain anonymous for now) just
gave the AmiZilla project a $2000 boost. He is a long time Amiga user
and still uses WinUAE and the Video Toaster Flyer a lot. He contacted
me and wanted to match the $2000 I used to start the AmiZilla Project."

I would think this is slashdotable, considering all the mystery and stuff :)

And the more awareness we raise the better!

I wonder what happens with that pile of money if the project doesn't happen.

Os if someone ports mozilla or firebird to 4.0 native only.

Good question I think it was anwered a while ago though, so I'm trawling the forums...

I'd imagine that once it runs on OS4, it'd be relatively trivial to get going on MOS and AROS

Got in touch with Bill Panagouleas earlier on when the project started and apparently it will be returned by PayPal, but he couldn't rally give me a time limit for the project. Might be a good idea to set one?

Hi there everyone,

That really is fantastic news, now if IBrowse or AWEB etc ..... could be updated to those specs, then I believe the bounty is also available to them AS LONG AS they match the capabilities of Mozilla or similar.

AOS4 needs a good browser, how about it? If I could code (Other than PHP that is) i'd be in there myself.

The last I had heard they were only considering this. I stopped by the site and can only find mention of them looking for input on the idea.

Although I don't think a second fund would have any chance of working a second one would have to be set up for this to be fair to those who have already spent so much time working on the Mozilla port.

I'm just not a big fan of changing the rules once it gets started and possibly punishing those who got an early start.

Just my 2 cents.

Well AROS doesnt have a TCP/IP stack yet, so theres no point untill it has one. Also, i think they should only be required to port it to MorphOS and AmigaOS because i have doubts about it running on 68k... was 68k a dependednt upon receiving money? i forget!

We came up with ideas for a plan, which then turned into this page.

We are still in short (and have been for months) of a few people willing to bring AmigaOS and it's clones into the modern browsing era...

Ok, I think what happened was we got our wires a bit crossed. I thought the previous poster was saying that the Mozilla money was now open to the AWeb port. I had gone to the AmiZilla page to check on this and only found it listed as being considered. That's actually what I was replying to.

I stopped by your page though and I'm very glad to see that work continues on getting AWeb up and running as well. I wish you all the best with it and I'll look for it in the future.

Mmmm... I can see that now. Sorry, I misunderstood the post. But my answer still counts.

More news from Panagouleas:

Quote:
Genesi wanted to match the booty several months ago but never did. Now
I am afraid they will not be able to afford it. The former Netscape
Executive changed his mind about donating $2000, now instead he wanted
to match the original booty amount before his bid ($4205.61). Now
because of his revised donation the booty is over $8400. His only
request is that he wants to see the amount get over $10,000 so is
requesting others donate what they can. He has done more than his
share that is for sure. $10,000 is a good idea and a nice milestone to
aim for but AmiZilla will need your help to get there. Could someone
submit this news to www.slashdot.org

I think this is very newsworthy.
