@Drako

Actually, the next PowerDev Meeting is in Prague:

http://powerdev.pegasosppc.cz/

We will have MPC8610 and MPC5121e development systems there to demo. The demo will also include the beta flash plugin we are developing *with* the approval and support of Adode.

Your PowerDev Meeting is after that!

We appreciate your support. Your PowerDev Meeting page(s) are the best yet.

So what the crack with the MPC5121e, I understand that Cherrypal are experiencing some issues.

@DiscreetFX

Of course, if you are interested and you can.

@Rob

The biggest challenge (when one thinks about common computer software applications and this chip) is that the 5121e does not support cache coherency. Understanding that, the next challenge comes when developing software that can load balance the performance required for acceptable use across the e300 (PowerPC), graphic (MBX Lite) and co-processor (AXE) cores. This is a complex task -- even to compile the code to produce the best possible outcome is complex work. Unfortunately, and in the meanwhile, the chip was not verified as a *system* but as individual features (network, USB, etc.) which spells trouble when you need lots of different things happening at the same time. Of course, the 5121e (as the 5200 and 5200B before), was not developed for the use-case we have (or THTF or Cherrypal), that is running common computer software applications. When you add all the other factors beyond the technology issues (business relationships, corporate politics, cultural differences, financial resources, sales/marketing, etc., etc.), it can become quite difficult to actually bring a real and solid product to market. Neither Cherrypal or THTF have helped themselves. Against our advice they have seriously exaggerated the capability of the chip and been overly optimistic about the time schedule. They have hurt themselves.

@Drako

Finally some half decent videos that actually show the Efika running MorphOS and applications! The tutorial about Blender might become useful when subtitles will be uploaded.

Kind regards,
Andrea
